That is pretty funny and awesome at the same time. I guess the muggers are stupid to actually trying to rob someone in front of a dojo.

Those ninja failed because they were actually spotted. True ninja would have been described by witnesses as shadows or ghosts. They probably committed ritual seppuku after realizing their dishonor.

The thugs were probably too busy running away to realize that a ninja attack shouldn't have come as a surprise when they were mugging someone right in front of a dojo full of students training in traditional black ninja garb.

Ninjas did not, traditionally, war a black garb. Thus, we have a dojo of ninja posers, which explains their lack of ninja-ness
