I have a TV ad on Craigslist, and I'm getting a funny vibe from a potential buyer. The buyer offered a good price (but not unbelievably good). The thing is that he's asked two questions that were already answered in the ad, and that sets off alarm bells. One was for a photo of the TV, and another was for the size. Both of which are clear in the ad.

What do you think? Should I be suspicious?

Does your area have safe zones set up for Craiglist interactions?

Suspicious, but the respondant might have only seen "TV" when he clicked, and not really paid attention to much else. The amount of people who miss information RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM is depressingly high.

Should you decide to go through with the sale, I'd advise making the meeting point directly in front of the local cop shop, or somewhere else highly public (and most likely under camera observation).

It seems really hard to miss the pictures in that ad.

Though, as someone who works in sales, I would point out that you shouldn't say "1080p is still pretty good," instead you should say "AMAZING 1080P HIGH DEFINITION RESOLUTION"

Seconded. I'm selling some stuff on Craigslist right now, and almost every question I get is stuff answered in the ad. I almost want to tell these people "No, you may not have this item. You are too stupid to function."

"Where are you located/How close are you to [town]?" - I put the town/zip in the ad. You don't know how a map works?
"Will it fit in my [model car]?"- I've never owned that car, so how the fuck should I know? I put the dimensions IN the ad. A ruler or tape measure is too complex for you??

...sorry, didn't mean to derail, but gahd, this has been bugging me lately.

Sold my truck using Craigslist. The kid paid the exact amount that I listed. I would have knocked off a couple hundred, but he just handed my a stack of 100s and went on his way. So, my anecdotal evidence is that it should be fine.

$100 is a great deal for that t.v.

You'd think, but there are like a bazillion 1080p tvs on houston craigslist. I feel like I was lucky to get a callback at all.

The more I text this person, the more I feel like they're a kid. I guess I'll find out after work.

I just had a too good to be true laptop for sale get yanked off the site. I don't know if this guy wanted attention or what. We were ready to close on the sale, so I asked how he wanted to meet. Then I never heard back from him. Now the page for the computer has been shut down with out a sale.

I sold a TV on Craigslist once. No trouble at all. I'd advise doing it in full view of many witnesses during daylight hours.

I also once tried to find a date on Craigslist. I still can't wash away that grimy feeling.

They might want extra pictures to verify you actually have it to sell? Like that you didn't just save pictures from another ad and repost those? I dunno. I could see that being a thing I guess.

It went off without a hitch. I usually just meet people in my driveway, but this time I set up the meeting at a grocery store. I don't know--just had a funny vibe. I think probably he was distrustful of me, and that came through, and I got distrustful of him. But anyway, it was fine.

The guy that has the computer to sell wants me to pick it up at his house. I told him to walk to the nearest safe place to meet me. Then he quit responding to my texts again. He sounds like he is willing to wait until the weekend when he truck is repaired and meet me halfway. I just don't like waiting.
