2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine

The stated goal of the current powers in Russia is the eventually "reclaimation" of all previously held territory and expansion Westwards to defeat the decadent western Nazis. This will never happen; considering the state of everything else in their country, we don't have an reason to believe Russia can actually launch a nuclear weapon effectively and even if they could, the retaliation of such an event (whether conventional or in kind) would be the end of Russia.

They can yell all they want. If they don't want NATO at their doorstep, maybe they shouldn't be so invasive of neighbors.

Finland is ONLY joining NATO because of Russian aggression. But let’s not let that little fact get in the way of a good saber rattling.

Clearly they're doing it using Ukraine as an excuse but in fact because they're Nazi supporting filthy degenerate Westerners who are being brainwashed to fight against their own best interests, which lie with their big strong and friendly neighbor.

Yep. In the eyes of the NeoUSSR, other countries are either prey or threat. There is no third classification. You are either a prize to be taken, or an enemy engaged in active hostilities.
Yet another textbook example of binary thinking.
This is why they don't want Teh Gays, because that will ruin their "pure" binary stance.

Time for the US to give better missiles to the Ukranians that can reach farther into Russia.

Seems like Russia's stealth fighters aren't exactly all that stealthy.

Seems like Russia's stealth fighters aren't exactly all that stealthy.

1.) This is TASS, meaning it's almost certainly false. They wouldn't be reporting an ongoing operation and certainly not one involving Russia's supposedly hotshit next-gen fighter.

2.) Russia has a total of 4 of these things, 12 years after production began (Well... plus 10 testbeds that are probably non-functional at this point). They will not be a factor in the grand scheme of things.

3.) I highly doubt Russian engineers managed to do better than the F-22A, which is kind of a flying turkey itself.

HIMARS are making a huuuuuge impact on Ukraine.

Just a few of them have made a massive impact.

The absolute worst job in the Russian military right now must be anyone working at an ammo depot.

Looks like Ukraine is positioning itself to take back Crimea. They destroyed a Russian airbase in the area, destroying over a billion dollars of military hardware and countless soldiers stationed there. Russian tourists are now fleeing the area over the Crimean bridge. (seriously? Tourists?)

What's weird to me is the Russian response, they blame the airbase going up in smoke on "improper fire safety" because they would rather make themselves look like idiots that would blow up their own airbase then admit Ukraine was able to get past their air defenses.

Russia is now also recruiting convicts with promises of amnesty for 6 months of service. No pedophiles or terrorists (as designated by the Russian government), but murderers and robbers and rapists, sure. They alledgely) get 2 weeks of boot camp before being dropped in Ukraine to serve as cannon fodder.
I can absolutely believe this, easily, but....Yikes.

You can't believe this? Russia employs the Zap Branigan strategy consistently. Clog the enemy with our dead until victory.

Yeah, Ukraine's been making heavy use of the anti-radar weapons provided. Basically nullifying Russia's anti-air capabilities.

Walk into a bear's den, get mauled to death, that's natural causes. Walking into Russia state chambers and opposing Putin, obviously same thing so natural causes too. Durr.

Russian lines are domino-ing really badly now near Kharkiv, like a total collapse. The Ukranians are shocked at how fast they're falling apart, saying they can't capture territory fast enough. It's legit exactly like a rout in Total War.

Some other Russian statistics that are interesting

To showcase Russia's demographic decline, some stats on their births and deaths:

  • In July 2022, Russia registered 113,946 babies being born, a decrease of 10,769 (-8.36%) from July 2021 during which 124,715 babies were born
  • In July 2022, Russia registered 131,763 deaths, down from 215,265 in July 2021 (huge difference can be contributed to COVID-19)
  • As such, in July 2022, Russia had a natural population decline of 17,817 people in the month of July 2022
  • From January through July 2022, Russia registered 749,164 babies being born, a decrease of 53,663 (6.68%) compared through January-July 2021, during which 802,827 babies were born
  • From January through July 2022, Russia registered 1,150,803 deaths, down from 1,315,309 deaths in January-July 2021. Again, the difference was made by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • As such, from January through July 2022, Russia registered a natural population decline of 401,639 people
Probably shouldn't be throwing an entire generation of young men at a war you're losing very badly.

Here's some comedy:
