[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

We know what he's saying, it's right there in print, as well as WOTC sending traffic because of a dungeon crawl story through an awesome dungeon that turns into something that we did way back in 1978 during the first month that we played D&D. It's just an unfortunately typical SK story line drop without any real resolution.

You see, before the story arc she was obsessed with DnD and was dating skull. Now shes obsessed with DnD, and OFFICIALLY dating skull.

...

I think I might have to take a break from PvP. I looked at Jade's silhouette in today's comic, and suddenly thought that's what Fred and Daphne's lovechild would look like.

What? Don't look at me like that. You know those two are boning like rabbits while mask-wearing villain of the week is out chasing Shaggy and Scooby.

As for Velma... I'm gonna guess she's back in the Mystery Machine with a good book and a flashlight.

So, um... Serious question here, because this is something I've already done. If you dislike what he writes, does, and how he acts, we do so many of you still go and read his strip? I don't think I've looked at anything he's done since... I can't even remember. It's been at least since Max came back as a business partner. I'm not saying don't read it if that's what you want to do, but why do you read it if you're displeased with the work?

If this forum did not remind me of it's existence I would not think of the comic or read it.

It's all your fault.

That's a funny word fault. What's that U doing in there? All casual and hoping you don't notice, then bam! It's umlaut time.

If someone told me there were old people fucking behind a dumpster everyday*, I wouldn't feel the urge to go and look.

*sorry Dave ...

Liar. You would be enthralled by the heave and fro of the moobs, the gentle sighing of the joints like a wicker chair and glistening of salty sweat beads from minutes of minute exertion.

Honestly I don't dislike his strip, and I've come in here to defend it more than once. He's one of the only webcomics out there that does regular updates and the daily nature of his comics means that they won't all be hits. Generally it's still one of the best webcomics out there. It's just these last couple of weeks that have been particularly bad.

I stopped reading shortly after the site design. It makes sense for Penny Arcade which is much more than a webcomic site but when PvP went to this format it just seemed like a way to increase page views with no additional content. I stuck around for a couple of weeks. The site bugged me so bad and the strip hasn't been doing it for me I decided it was time to move on. I still check out this thread in the event he hits gold again and I don't want to miss anything but yet have not found much to lure me back. My page view won't be missed, though, as I'm sure he's more than doubled his page views with the new site. Like he said in one of his tweets to a disgruntled reader "My site will be there whether you visit or not."

Just to be on record so we're not accused of just bitching all the time, the last few comics have not had anything to complain about, from my perspective.

Though I fully expect another barrage of shooped CAD hospital rooms soon.

If Jade gets pregnant (in a very special PvP) and has a miscarriage, I will laugh until I puke.

But you just know that they are going to have a kid now. And the hijinks are going to be wacky.

That can't be that young any more....

I'm thinking we're going to get a swerve.

Actually, Scott himself can't have children and I think Brent is the one he identifies the most with.

...so...yeh.

Yeah I gotta agree on the copy/pasting not really being a problem. As long as it isn't entire scenes (which I think he has done in the past..) I think it's acceptable to do so.

It not only is a huge time saver, it also helps to maintain continuity I think. Just at least make the faces fresh for each panel, s'all I'm sayin

Admittedly, the last three days have been touching. They keep reminding me of the time Brent had that dream where he had a precocious, wise-before-her-years daughter.

Aaaand now I feel I could go for some cookies and milk. Dammit.

I never really wanted to bitch about Kurtz because generally I like the strip and haven't found the fault with it that a lot of people here have. That said between the DnD arc which ended with the speed of a premature orgasm sans awkward crying and call to my mother (ladies, hello) and the idea he's toying around with the pregnancy idea which has shattered so many enjoyable shows, comics, etc, is disheartening. PLus with his blog posts these days you'd think he lives in a mansion made out of gold on the fairest hill of the land.

While I'm on it, since he moved to Seattle I've noticed a shift in PA's general quality. Strips aren't as funny and the newsposts are almost always pretty deep into the day so I have to check the site throughout in order sometimes to even get at what the strip is about, probably because I don't pay attention to gaming news too often anymore which shi(f)ts me about of the demographic.

Penny-Arcade still seems to be the same top-notch quality it always has been. If you don't like checking the page often, I'd suggest subscribing to their RSS feed. News posts have been late recently due to E3, though usually I see the news posts up around 12pm eastern (which would be 9am their time)

Wait, why cant Jade be a blogger from home? I know she just went to E3, but that doesn't seem to be something she normally does.
