OC gonna die :(
Negative! I'm normally a straight-up Davion loyalist (Fuck you, Melissa... Fuuuuuuuuuck yoooooou! ) but c'mon now... seriously? Vikings in space. VIKINGS. IN. SPACE.

Nothing saying I can't get the flock outta dodge before the end of 3050, in any case... *grins* And if I can't, then I go down fighting, taking a star of tank-born scum with me!

Oh ok... suuuuure.

Just PM me, I want to know more of the game. How it plays. Is it legit and good?

If they were only doing this to troll people, I would love them. Ah well, I guess I can see where a game with giant machines of death are used to slaughter thousands would have My Little Pony in it.

Nah, that's just for early access when the game goes live. You don't have to pay to be in the Beta that I didn't get into.

On a related note, from what I hear weapons with ammo are severely underpowered right now. Autocannons are nigh useless for how hard they are to hit anything. Medium lasers rule the school.

Totally not in the beta.

Medium lasers rule the school you say.

Weapons with ammo are severely underpowered.

Autocannons are hard to aim properly.

HOLY SHIT THEY'RE REMAKING MW3.

(Remember lag shooting and medium laser-boated shadowcats? lolololol)

Just as a heads up for anyone interested.

Founders program get you a bunch of shit. Hope to see you in game when it rolls around. I am totally jonesing for it.

Also, founders apparently have a front of the lunchline ticket to get into the beta.

Yeah, I got that a few weeks ago... the problem is... I haven't played the game yet. I barely saw gameplay vids of it. I can't find it in myself to drop that amount of cash on something I haven't even tried yet.

So I picked up the entry-level package for MWO this weekend, gives you immediate access to the closed beta plus some extra goodies.

Game is incredibly good. It's one of the most polished Betas I have ever seen. It lacks mech and map variety, of course, but that's to be expected.

I need to find where my old joystick went.

Easy to replace, of course, but I had some mech-murdering history with that thing.

I burned out on it hard. The amount of time it takes to grind out even an entry level mech without spending way too much money is nuts.

Pssst. You're breaking NDA! For Shame! :p

But yeah, I totally agree about the time it takes to earn mechs without shelling out cash. I can only hope it changes, as it has changed a couple times already over the course of the short month or so I've been in the beta.

huh, I should read the NDA. Guess the comment about mech/map variety might be covered but I think that's all public. Can't remember. The amount of time needed to get mechs is, frankly, nill considering that you can burn your starter gold to get a couple mechs right off the bat. Past that I think I've made like 8 mil in a day or so. Not really that hard to pull in cash.

Looking at the internet, there's been no real enforcement of the NDA. NeoGaf (bigger gaming forum out there) has a pretty massive thread dedicated to all the details.[DOUBLEPOST=1349141342][/DOUBLEPOST]

Right now, but reading what they said, they wanted people who don't have a founder's mech and are only using the trial mechs to have to play through around 50 or so matches in order to afford a Commando.

I have a Beta invite... and no rig to run it on... ;_;

I REALLY need to get this empty tower to my buddy... he's one of those "constantly upgrading" guys, and he's offered to build me a rig from his last-gen parts... if I can just get him the tower... to the storage room!

Oh well, if that's the case -

F2P invite GETS no starter gold. Trial mechs mean about 80-90k per match, and a mere Commando is 1.8 mil. Even a raven is like 2 and a half million. Grindy. As. Fuck. Hoping they adjust that before launch. Otherwise I'll be writing this off as another one of those games where it's not F2P, it's Pay2Win and anyone dipping their toe in for free is just cheap cannon fodder/target practice for the payers.

Also the trial mechs are goddamned ovens and in some cases specialized for nothing.

Also I HATE THAT CAUSTIC MAP.

Other than that, it's pretty fun. The game looks in-game like the old games' FMV sequences. Though a bit blurry and grainy to me, makes me feel like they're trying to obfuscate low poly models but I'm pretty sure they aren't.

It sounds like these guys need some balancing tips from CSR Racing, or something.
Well, as the fanboys say, it's still beta. And they've already changed the economy more than once, so it's not unthinkable they'll change it again. Hopefully they'll put in a mechanism by which you indicate what maps you DON'T want to play on as well, rather than having to be thrown one at random.

I also wish there were clan mechs. I miss my custom warhawk (I refuse to call it by its freebirth designation "masakari.")

I wish Harmony Gold would quit being such pricks and let them use the original designs. Man I loved beating the crap out of heavy Mech's with the Phoenix Hawk.

All I want to know is can I pilot a Marauder?
No. Really the current selection of mechs is a little scant, though they're adding more (and I hope a lot more by launch). Right now:

Light: Commando, Jenner, Raven
Medium: Hunchback and another I forget...
Heavy: Catapult, Dragon
Assault: Atlas and Awesome

Word is the flea is being added, and a pc mag leaked the highlander is also in the works.

Unless something has changed since I played in closed beta oh so long ago, the Dragon was a complete piece of shit.
