So this is blatant whoring. There's a contest where one can win an ipad or ipod touch by asking, answering, and linking to questions on apple.stackexchange.com.

I only need 5 people to click on this link to make it into the first winner's level (there are three levels - the first level has one ipad given to one of that level's participants randomly, the second up to 25 people get an ipod touch, and in the third level up to 5 people get an ipad). Once I get into the first level (which might happen tomorrow or monday, if I'm diligent) then I'll probably pimp a few more links to get into the second level. I have to ask and answer questions as well, so the link alone won't do it, but I want to get an early start on them in case I actually make it into the first level.

Anyway, with all that said, here's the tenth link which might be of interest to some of you. Hopefully five of you:

Gamepads compatible with OS X?

I'll update that link with other interesting gems on that site occasionally, so please come back and see if there's a new link each day.

Here's the contest page for those interested in more information about it: http://thenewipadishere.com/

And for those interested in observing my progress, you can see how far I've progressed in each level here:

So..Just click on the link? Or do we have to do anything once we get there?
Just click the link. There's no need to vote on anything, or sign up, or browse - just clicking the link is sufficient for this part of the contest.

I updated the link to a new question, and I made it into the first level, so now I'm working on the second level. This time I need to get people to visit 10 different links, so I'll keep updating the link in the first post as I succeed each one.

Thanks to everyone who's helping me with this!

Wow, yes, yes you did. In fact the third link was done very quickly. I've added another one about iphone jailbreaking.

I'm doing this on twitter as well, and I'll probably start on facebook over the weekend, but I still need to do another 16 so I'll keep posting a new link here every so often, so thanks for checking back!

That jailbreak question is a very good one. I've always wondered if the pros outweighed the cons. I don't have a phone yet but worried about restrictions vs safety & usability.

I've never seen enough pros to warrant it. The apps out there for jailbroken phones just don't add much value to me. Maybe ssh, but that's more of a curiosity than anything else. Love to have a terminal, but that's just for funsies, too.

New link up - this time how to keep your headphones untangled. I'm 80% done with requirements for the second level, so as long as I don't slow down I'll get an ipod touch for sure.

Still trying for the ipad though...

I've got more interesting links to share, so the quicker you click, the more you get...

Ok, some of those answers are clever, but I question the validitity of the question. Seems pretty off-topic.

Yeah, Apple.SE has some interesting rules. The most jarring I've found is the allowance for recommendations.

I've posted two more links for people to click on. Not as exciting as how to keep your headphones untangled, but perhaps interesting to a few of you:

Easy ways to clean your tablet screen?

How to manage your app purchases and music purchases when you have several people and devices?

I've also been posting different links to twitter, because I don't want to burn you guys out, but if you've liked the links I've sent you so far, you'll probably like these too. They've already been clicked on enough, so there's no need to go to my twitter and click them unless you are interested in them:

Well, it looks like I'm going to make it into the second level, but I'm too far behind to get into the third level, so I've given up getting an iPad. But if I don't stay in the top 30 I won't get an ipod either, so I'm going to keep plugging away at it.

I posted another link you might find interesting:

Undocumented iPhone features.

Thanks you again for helping me out with this!

There's a group on Facebook where you basically trade votes for contests. It's one of the reasons I've given up on these sorts of things. But I clicked the link anyway.

Interesting, but not unexpected I suppose. I appreciate the clicks, though! I wish I knew what kind of apple related posts you might find useful, but I suspect not many.

In this case I have to contribute a lot of other effort to get a prize. Sharing link clicks is perhaps 10% of the effort required, so even if someone used such a method to quickly get through that part, they would still have to do another large chunk of effort in order to complete each level of the contest.

I've been doing about 50% here and 50% on twitter and taking it slow because I only need to do 7 more links of five clicks each to finish that part up, and I've got another week to do it.

Another link up. I only need to get three more done, so I should be done today.

I'm almost certainly going to get an iPod touch, but the iPad is pretty far out of reach right now. I'd need to get another 50+ upvotes on my posts (not something most of you can help with, but for those that can, please only upvote 2-3 of my posts, otherwise the anti-abuse system will detect and reverse the votes).

That's pretty unlikely, but I'm still looking at my options.

Thanks everyone! I made it into the final level and have met all my link sharing requirements. I've done a analysis of the competition, and I'm currently in 7th place for the 5 iPads, and have a lot of work to do to surpass at least 2 people in order to get an iPad, assuming no one else gets above me (and it's likely a few will).

I've got until Monday to do it, though, so I'll spend some time on it, and with luck I'll get one. It's not impossibly hard, anyway...
