Heh. Sadly, the one mod that I was really looking forward to seemed to be the one that caused the game to double in speed - Reduced NPC Greeting Distances. Supposed to make it so you have to practically bump into an NPC before they'll start asking if you're doing your good deed for the day, or if you get to the cloud district often, or interrupting you to tell you that they don't have time to talk to you...
That guy who asks if you get to the cloud district often doesn't ask that any more. Because I murdered him and then stuffed his body in a display case. Then his wife, you know, the one who always badmouthed him? She set some goons on me. So I came back and murdered her, too.

I was sneaky about those murders though. There was some other murders I was deliberately un-sneaky about. See, my "meet whatsisface at the shrine of talos again" in markarth quest got bugged somehow so I wouldn't be arrested, and the quest got stuck. I had to advance it with a console command, and then arrange to get thrown into prison (Cedna Mine)... well, I chose to do that by slaughtering every single guard in Markarth in open combat, then went into the Jarl's palace and slaughtered every single guard in there, too, and the thalmor and his escorts for good measure. I kicked the Jarl and his housecarl to the curb a few times, then left town, waited a bit, and came back. Guards were still all dead. Left again, did some other stuff, came back a few days later and new guards were there.

"Stop! You have committed crimes against skyrim and her people! What say you in your defense?"

"FUS RO Daoohh fine. I submit, cough cough, take me to jail."

I wasn't there long, but it was funny to see approximately 40k in fines go away when I escaped as part of a mass prison break, and somehow in all of it, they assumed that "all those murders" were committed by the foresworn - apparently even the guards I massacred in broad daylight with the entire population of Markarth looking on.

Now I can't play at all. It starts the new game and crashes before I even get out of the cart.

Fucking video, Jay! I kept checking to see if my speakers were plugged in. Who makes a video with no sound?!?

My god...

That better become a real release or I am going to hunt them down and take it. TAKE IT I SAY.

And to think, that is only a "small taste".

I'm sure you've checked this but did you reinstall SkyUI and SKSE before starting the new game? Seems there are some problems right now with SKSE 1.4, and several people are reporting constant freezing and crashing, including CTD before getting to the splash screen to choose New Game or Continue, etc.

Personally, the only time I CTD following the 1.4 patch is when I'm exiting the Ragged Flagon into the cistern. The game crashes post autosave every time I go through that door (but only from the inside out, it doesn't happen when I'm headed into the Flagon). Freaked me out the first time until I figured out that it crashed after the save, as I'd just spent 10 days down there selling potions to the fence and I really didn't want to have to do it again.

There's a mod that leads you directly into the Flaggon, it's available in the Steam store. You might want to get that.

I stopped using the Script Extender because I knew it was likely going to get screwy with the new patch. Game has already been much smoother then normal. I only get some hiccups when I mouse spin around faster then the game can load the areas behind me. I also reset all my mods (which pretty much means I am screwed if I go back to older characters, which is fine with me since I felt they lived their lives as much as I wanted to take them) just so I could start fresh and with the least amount of bugs.

By the way, orcs are fucking evil. So far I have played Nord, Dark Elf, and now Orc, and my Orc sword/shield focus is mutilating stuff all over the place. The only time I was killed was fighting a master vampire, and after reloading I just dusted off, went straight back into the room, only that time activated Berserker Rage, guy didn't know what hit him.

See, I'm torn. I'm really enjoying my Kahjiit assassin, but I really want to start a mage from the beginning and play it all the way through and see just how epic I can get a caster. I finally got tired of having to leave dungeons after clearing all the way to the end and not being able to kill the final room or sometimes even just the final boss, and then having to wait and go back when I got my magic more powerful since I'm already level 40 and would have no problem dropping things that are leveled to meet me if I was using a bow or my daggers; so I went back to Breezehome, grabbed my dragon scales, crafted and enchanted my ds armor, headed back out and now I'm unstoppable again.

But... having already done all of the faction quests (except the companions, which I'd still have to go out of my way not to use magic or even enchanted weapons with them, stupid Nords), plus the reunification/liberation quest line, and various miscellaneous quests, I just don't know if I want to go back through from the beginning. I think I'd still enjoy it because there are still plenty of quests that I haven't done, plenty of shouts I haven't discovered, etc., but I really like this game and I don't want to burn out on it.

It was the new hi-res stuff. Did yet another total uninstall/reinstall and before I ran it I clicked off the new hi-res and it worked fine. Damn it.

Steam reaaaaally needs to get a search option going in there.... over 1000 mods... clicking page per page gets old... fast.

Same here, checked on multiple computers. I thought perhaps an unauthorized audio track had been disabled, but there is no note about that on the YouTube page (but there are a lot of other people complaining about there being no sound).

Like it matters right now, you can only have 50 mods before the launcher decides to say "what? fuck you!" and never loads or updates mods again. Found that out the hard way last night.

Going back to Skyrim Nexus for most mods, at least till it is fixed.

Fuck suits.

But makes you REALLY hope about what kind of mods that came come out.

However, I'll be honest, Steam Workshop is NOT ready for this type of abuse.

I just can't imagine that someone in corporate over there can't look at some of that stuff and see dollar signs.

I'm back at level 6 now and will be able to play again. Only addon I absolutely had to have was the Dovahkiin Hideout...and they changed the shit out of it. Hell, they even added people!

I am not really sure about the people, but I love some of the design changes, like the mask display overlooking the main room, the workshops and libraries right next to a nice quick exit.

I actually use it in conjunction with Dovahkiin Retreat, another mod Shawk made that adds a small house and outside crafting area to a hillside overlooking Whiterun, right next to the Dovahkiin Hideout rear entrance. It works well for me since a lot of times when I want to get crafting done, I just want to fast travel there and get started, rather then navigate the hideout to get to the blacksmith, thus I keep a bit of ore and ingots in the chest out there for upgrades. If I do need to use the hideout, the trap door is still there, so I can go display my loot, put books on my shelves, or do some mass crafting.

In the end my favorite part about it is simply how pristine it is. I love going up there and chopping wood next to the raging river, then looking over the cliffs to Whiterun.

Bloody hell... Did I misread the manual at some point? I finally managed to get the five grand necessary to buy a house in Whiterun, and there's no chests or any place where I can put stuff in? Besides just dumping it all on the floor, that is. Seriously, what the hell? I understood the house was the place where I could dump some of the umpteen ingredients I keep lugging around.

And where in the sphincter of Alduin are those @#¤%&?+' ore deposits?!

The Whiterun house should have given you one free chest on the top floor, near the bed. That is what you get for the basic house.

Return to the Steward, the guy that sold you the house, and he can further furnish it for more gold, which will add more dressers, cabinets, and chests, and even an alchemy table.

And where in the sphincter of Alduin are those @#¤%&?+' ore deposits?!
They are all over the place, but they are NOT easy to see without modification. I have gotten used to noticing them. You basically have to keep an eye open for a area of raised rock that is usually a little darker then the ground it's sticking out of. Walls are a little bit harder, as they are more flush with the rest of the wall, but still have a slightly more "bumpy" look.

The best way to get ore though, is to simply go clear our mines and caves. You will always find at least a dozen ore veins inside a mine dungeon, and you can even walk into town mines and just take the ore right out. You will find more ore in those places then you will wandering around outside. Walk around and look for the slightly "off" colored walls and the rock areas of floors, and sooner or later you will stumble on them. Make sure to bring a pick axe.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I just can't seem to be able to put anything into the chests and drawers. That's my problem mainly.

Gah, this is why it's a pain in the ass to be a console newbie...

Not playing on a console, but it should say in the bottom left which button is required to put stuff into chests, followers, etc.. On the PC it's the R key.
