The Fuck is this?

So... on the bottom right of posts, under likes/reply, a new bar appeared this morning with 10 icons for news options to interact with posts.

Am I seeing this right? If you click it, it doesn't tell you who clicked what? For example, if I click "Grammar Fail", there's no name attached to the icon I chose.

Are we going back to the passive aggressive stance in 2012?

Yeah well.... you need to remove several more options as the e-*WORD DELETED BY MODERATOR* will use this for passive aggressive responses. Don't tell me you don't see this?

Looking at this more carefully :

- Remove Agree and Disagree. "Like" serves the same option as agree and people who disagree should simply post instead of using lazy passive aggressiveness.
- Funny is OK
- /Thread is OK
- Informative is redundant to Useful.
- "Love it" is redundant, "Like" serves the same function or even /Thread. But not a real issue.
- Useful is OK.
- Meh = Passive Aggressive.
- Creative seems useless.
- Old = Passive Aggressive.
- Grammar Fail = Passive Aggressive.
- Really? Reeeeally? = Passive Aggressive as seen above.

"Not sure if serious?" now? I just don't think Dave understands passive aggressiveness.

*Please do not use this term again. It's against our rules and it's just not cool. No infraction has been given, this is just a warning. -ESPY

I don't think Jay understands fun.
For an admin who wants a minimal of conflict between posters, you sure do know how to fuel the fires. If you don't see how this can and will cause passive aggresive responses, I'm done discussing this.

It's not passive aggressive because you can see who put what. Passive aggressive would be more anonymous.

I have been asked several times to do additional things other than just "Like". I kept a couple of neutral responses and (I think) only 3 that are considered negative and even these are pretty light. Really the only one that I think will be "abused" is "Really? REALLY?!?" and if I got that I'd just laugh.

Youze guyz is wound tight.

Like = Agree/Love
Disagree = Meh/Old News/Grammar Fail/Notsure if serious/Really? Really?

Funny, /thread, informative, creative just don't seem useful.

Maybe I'm wrong. These are just my impressions.

I saw these new options and immediately felt like complaining about them. That should say something.

Gotta agree with Shego. We don't need this many options and it just looks really ugly. It's also going to lead to problems. I'd probably just keep Like, Agree, and maybe add in a "You have my condolences" option, as that's one people have been asking for for a while. The rest are ether passive aggressive or completely unnecessary.

Ok, seeing this post tagged with "Old news" made me laugh out loud. This is great.

Let's leave it all in place for awhile and see what new and crazy ways people come up with to use it that amuse me.

It was "Old" before Old News...

This can easily be cut down to two or three. If we have a button to click on to give every possible reaction to a post, then we have no more reason to post.

I like the "Hug" one! I just ogt back from lunch and then I have a meeting. After that I'll be tweaking them a bit.

I don't think you can see who Disagrees. I have two disagrees and i haven't been able to figure out where they came from. I just got a trophy for it. :p

For some reason, this is driving me bat shit crazy.

I guess I can live with what is there now. I think the 'meh' and 'dislike' could be merged as well, but that might be a preference thing.

None of it appears on XenMinimal; not the icons nor the results. Thusly, for a second there I thought you had all gone insane. Now I recognize I am insane - and will continue to use XenMinimal.

Oh, and all the pre-existing Likes have turned into Agrees. This makes little sense to many, many posts.
Agree and Like should be switched, I guess. Silly of them to change the default Like into Agree. :/
Didn't notice that. Hmmm.
