Gargoyles getting a Feature? Not happening, just like you thought!

According to Heat Vision, Disney is starting an unnamed project that is going to involve one of the greatest cartoon series has ever done: Gargoyles! Apparently they are hiring Zoe Green to make a screen play for it... anyone know if they've done any good work in the past?

Personally, I'm just glad they didn't abandon the franchise after the comic series kinda petered out. Maybe this will renew interest in the show and we'll get those DVDs they owe us, or possibly another series?

Gargoyles getting a Feature? More likely than you think!

Actually, it's not based around the animated series. It's just based around gargoyles in general.

Yeah, considering how badly they screwed up the TV releases, I really didn't see any hope for that.

Personally I'd rather they go back and release the 3 seasons on DVD correctly.

Ah, Keith David. The man so cool, he's now my new favorite Disney villain:

If YouTube had not failed me, I would have used the scene where Goliath roars or screams at the top of the castle in the pilot.

RELEASE THE FUCKING SECOND HALF OF SEASON 2 DISNEY!

Check the comments. They call the writer out for not being aware of it. Besides, I originally got the link for Nodwick, and he seems to think it's about the series too.

I mean really... You actually expect them to NOT use the fan favorite, critically acclaimed franchise they ALREADY FULL OWN and instead make a movie about something else using the same general idea? Not even Disney is that stupid.

Here's the article I had read which menions that it won't be based on the animated series.

Disney Bringing Gargoyles to Life Source: Variety July 13, 2010

Walt Disney Pictures is in negotiations with Zoe Green to write the screenplay based on an original idea she developed with the studio on gargoyles, says Variety.

The trade says the project is not tied to "Gargoyles," the animated TV series that Disney produced in the 1990s, or a comic book that was later produced by series creator Greg Weisman.

Green and Disney executive LouAnne Brickhouse came up with the idea. Lauren Shuler Donner will produce the live-action film.

So, it's about gargoyles, just not Gargoyles.

Fuck. Off. Disney.

The title of this topic should be changed to "Gargoyles getting a Feature? Not happening, just like you thought!"

THIS. Why the fuck wouldn't you use that franchise, Disney? Why do ANOTHER franchise about the same fucking topic? That is stupid as hell.

Indeed, though something tells me that the situtation will change soon. Check this Ask the Creator thing sometime later this month... I'm almost certain he'll have a comment about it sometime after Comic Con (assuming he doesn't say something about it then anyway).

Oh well... maybe we'll get those DVDs at least.

Sorry to deliver the bad news, guys. It could be worse. They could have gone ahead with making a Gargoyles film and have it end up being terrible. This way, they at least leave that property alone for the time being.
