Coronavirus Thread

...I thought productive cough wasn't one of the Big Things for COVID?
Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. It depends on which list you're going off of, I guess. I dunno. All I know is, I've been sick for over a month now, and it's just about as sick as I've been.

Good news, everybody! It wasn't the coronavirus, but was a form of pneumonitis - likely acute hypersensitivity pnuemonitis, aka winegrowers lung, aka a whole bunch of other things. It's what you get when you smoke weed with bud rot, or, in my case, when you dispose of a plant with bud rot and a pinhole water leak forms within a foot of where the plant was still hanging out, and becomes the perfect environment for botrytis to flourish.

As a diver, you should already know that what you really need to do is to execute a sustained, slow exhalation while hugging.

You'd think that, but I've found that if you even slightly shudder during a sustained, slow exhalation while hugging everyone gets all weird about it.

So yesterday's count was up to 17. On our island alone. That doesn't seem like much, but the numbers have been 0-2 for the state each day for a few weeks. Things have been reopening, like parks, beaches, and this week was also seating inside of restaurants. My office opened to the public 2 weeks ago. Yeah... I'm bracing myself.

Repeating what we already know... We are so fucked and I'm going to continue leaving the house as little as possible.

Damn

Can someone explain to me what Trump and his admin keep wanting to imply about testing? It's really twisting my brain because they keep implying that stopping testing means the numbers will go down, which, I mean, yes, they will go down on paper, but not testing an infected person does not automatically mean the person isn't infected. They keep acting like once we stop testing the whole thing will go away, and that head in the sand approach to this is making my logical brain light on fire, so I have to make sure I am not missing some actual reason outside of this madness.

Stop using logic and critical thinking.

The goal is to convince their base that the only reason the number is so high is because they do millions of test per day often retesting people for safety.

I think the goal is more than that, because only some of the base is going to believe that. The goal is to say vauge, somewhat promising things, that the base can interpret in whatever positive way they want. Some will believe "it's a hoax, we can stop testing because the numbers are fake anyway", some will believe "we need to stop testing because testing creates fear, and fear makes bad things happen, if people aren't afraid of COVID-19 then they won't get sick", others will think "testing makes people sick", or "going to get testing spreads disease", or "testing is a waste of money", or "tests are how they put the microchip in you"....

Correct. By constantly using unfalsifiable statements the goalposts remain mobile.

Loving the NYC Health Dept's advice on how to have safe sex during the pandemic. Includes stuff like "Make it a little kinky. Be creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls, that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact."

Yes, that's right. NYC wants you to visit your local gloryhole. :unibrow:

I wore a mask while shopping and got some stares. I know restrictions have been eased but that’s no excuse to get complacent. We’re all in this together people, geez!

Cases are spiking here in Texas. Governor says we got plenty of hospital beds and so refuses to let local governments enact mandatory mask wearing. I feel like we just gave up over here and will just have to wait for more deaths to come, we already over 2000.

Well, we can't have all those liberal places like New York have more of anything then the Lone Star state...

Well, well, how about that - our damn governor FINALLY decided to put a mask on for a PC.

EDIT: whoops, of course, he took it off as soon as he sat down.
