Former President Trump Thread

Perhaps he thought he was speaking to his Lavatory expert?
Probably wanted to know where they keep the bleach...

To be fair, he did start out addressing some other guy, but half way through he name checks her, so his argument that the media "got it wrong" is bullshit, since he was talking to both.

No, the launch codes require the NATO Phonetic alphabet. Do you really think cheeto could manage that?
I want to be comforted by that, but well, the people around him have already made a ton of other concessions and work-arounds in order for him to still be President. If the "Yes Men" that are enabling him now are willing to let him do all the other absurd stuff he's done already, I can only assume that they'll let him do anything.

Even though I wasn't a big fan of him while he was in office, if he was a third term choice alongside Biden and Trump, I'd choose him over either of those two in a second. So long as Cheney were nowhere in the picture, that is.

Fucking This.

For fucks sakes america, now you're a battered spouse that thinks that thinks that this time it will be different...

Cheney might have been the competent fixer, but all those policies where Bush policies...

Look, I'm not saying he was a saint or did much right, but he's no Trump. I have no doubt whatever he did he did because he thought he was helping the country. That's miles beyond what i can say of Trump.

Oh, I believe there are literal thousands of people better than W. But if the field were narrowed to those exact three, well...

GWB was one of the worst presidents you ever had. Admittedly, he's no Trump, but that's like saying Pol Pot was no Hitler.

Given those three, Biden would still be far and away the best choice. If you were to include Gore, or perhaps, if you insist on a republican, Zombie McCain, or even Mitt Romney...ehhh.
But GWB was himself an outlier, pushed incredibly destructive policies, helped the 1% more than anyone else, etc etc.
There's a reason Obama got a Nobel Peace Price for "Not Being GWB" (because while I love Obama, that was undeserved).

But they're talking about Biden...

And politically that's just not true, and will never be, even if the allegations of sexual assault are true.

If JFK and Clinton showed us anything, is that sexual misconduct and sound policy aren't mutually exclusive.

And, frankly, jailing a sitting president is a precedent that would do your democracy some good.

It being on Salon makes me take it less seriously by default. I think he's a narcissist that doesn't even register what is happening outside his own bubble, but I don't know if he's a sadist.

I have seen people suggesting he (I guess I mean we) suffers from (his) Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Sadistic Personality Disorder. I'm no licensed practitioner, but I can't think of a more fitting example of the former. The latter, however, I'd want a formal diagnosis. I'm more inclined to believe he hurts people as revenge/retaliation for contradicting him/not glorifying him/failing to acknowledge his importance or because he outright just doesn't care rather than because he is deliberately trying to "harvest" their suffering.

There was an article I stumbled across a few weeks ago, I can't remember who published it, that interviewed people who grew up around him, and his sociopathic tendencies were there, even as a kid. Like, he threw rocks at babies and went around physically hurting other kids. So, maybe both?

Never attribute to malice that which can easily be explained by stupidity...
I honestly thing it's more narcissism than stupidity. It's easy to write him off as an idiot, but I think it's more that he's so firmly stuck in his own world that he rearranges the reality of the situation so it always suits his own needs.

This is a good point. Arguably both can be called "stupid", but there are vastly different implications from someone not being able to understand because they lack the intelligence to grasp the concept, and someone not being able to understand because they refuse to, or have a mental illness that stops them from, being able to accept reality. And the latter is much more terrifying, IMO.
