Coronavirus Thread

Well, we're not a data center, per se. And the parts of our company (the networking stuff) which probably would fulfill the "essential services" requirement is maybe 10% of our business, and staffed by 4 people.

But the COO wants them to be the excuse why our much-more-lucrative AV department remains open and working, doing conference room, classroom, courtroom, public venue etc Audio/Video systems. Which is a little more of a stretch to call "essential."
Oh yeah, my bosses could really stretch the definition of our company to be essential too. It'd be pretty bs though and I'm glad they didn't actually try.

I start working from home tomorrow. A couple of coworkers are going to keep coming into the office because VPN over satellite is too slow to work on. And I thought I lived out in the sticks.

Well got an email saying we're going to do distance learning until at least April 15th, and if you happened to travel back home, you better get back by April 1st, so you can self-quarantine for 14 days. Of course, that April 15th estimate is based off Florida's current Department of Education estimate of when they'll reopen schools. Assuming things don't get better, that date could be pushed back.

Gov. Ige really needs to get his shit together. We just got stay-at-home orders, statewide, through April 30. But they are still talking about sending kids back to public school on April 7. Oh and even though the beaches are closed it's ok for people to go surf as long as they maintain social distancing. WTF Brah

I mean, trump is correct in saying that the choloroquine is very promising with treating this. Those people are just morons.

Mother nature loves me. She gave us 15 cm of heavy wet snow today. She knew full well our plows are off the road. Helping us self isolate the good old fashioned Canadian way, with a blizzard.

Good to know the kleptocrats in charge of Alberta are in full swing, while people are distracted by the global pandemic, they're selling off public parks at fire sale rates and demolishing family medical practices by shifting public healthcare money to privately owned tele-medicine services.
