Rant VIII: The Reckoning

It was super vivid conversations with @HCGLNS that never happened. It was so weird. I’d wake up and ask him about them.
If he non-sequitors at home like he posts on here, I'm not sure how you'd know the difference.

I just assume that life in the SquidHcglns house is like the Twin Peaks Red Room, but with more plushes.

It's more like I routinely cry out, "How am I the normal one in this family!"

I only name the spiders at work. They’re the only ones big enough to warrant names. And if a creature has babies in your scanner, you’re on a first name basis.

HOW. HARD. IS. IT. TO. DRAIN. THE. ITEM. BEFORE. YOU. SHIP. IT?

I just spent 3 hours fixing your rottweiler ramming.

IT'S FUCKING EMBARRASSING!!!!

Oh my god, I am so fucking fed up with UHC. They have to be the absolute 100% biggest fraud in health insurance I've come across. We have shelled out almost 10 THOUSAND dollars of our own out of pocket money so far in 2019 (which is almost over) and we're still $3,000 short of our $4,000 deductible. So, yay. I finally got approved for physical therapy for my shoulder. I can't afford to go, but I got approved. So, go me, I guess.
They did this to us last year, dividing up types of deductible. It's absolute shit.

just had my purchase at wal-mart "audited for accuracy". when they found I had paid for everything i get a line about accuracy of what is scanned vs what i paid for. YOU THINK I STOLE SOMETHING YOU BETTER HAVE BETTER THAN CIRCUMSTANTIAL SUSPICION!

They have someone at the door of our Wal-mart just doing it randomly. Some people just obediently queue up when they see someone else get checked. I just walk around them. :p

Yeah, this is a good reminder that if they were going to stop you because they thought you were stealing, they would just stop you. Keep walking unless they grab you.

As a former Wal-Mart employee, nobody is allowed to stop a customer for possible theft besides the specially trained loss-prevention people. As a cashier if I saw someone grab something and run, I would get in massive trouble if I did anything beyond reporting it.

Wow.

So... somebody where I work REALLY dropped the ball. HARD.

Because we didn't submit paperwork on time, we're no longer on the short list of contractors for Texas A&M Facilities Planning and Commissioning.

That means we don't get A&M jobs for at least the next year, and maybe longer (if our competitors leverage our screwup and impress A&M enough such that the competitors become preferred over us).

Basically, we just lost our biggest client.

Like, "bigger than all our other clients put together" biggest client.

I think my job is safe, but there's a lot of guys over in install who are probably gonna be staying up late updating their resumes for a while... and I don't relish the idea of pulling my own cable through ceilings and walls because a C(X)O got lazy and got us all fucked. And I know it's one of the owners/chief officers, because this is a screwup of catastrophic proportions, and nobody's head is rolling.

And I'm absolutely agog, because the paperwork that wasn't submitted was literally a half hour of copy-paste-send.

That's the kind of thing that kills an entire business. I sure hope they recover. Mostly for your sake.

It's unlikely the company as a whole will go under, as this only affects A/V and A/V is not our only bag. We also do networking, IT, PC support, training and certification. And even my job is probably secure, because we only have two A/V programmers including myself, and we're already stretched super thin on that front.

But we've got a dozen A/V installers on the payroll who are gonna be losing a lot of sleep, and potentially, jobs. A worst-case scenario here would be most or all of them getting laid off, and then us programmers having to hang our own displays, build our own racks, and pull our own cables. Which is not a good arrangement.

2am chest pains. Bad. Took nitro. Didn’t help. Went to ER. EKG normal despite PVC. But triponin levels on second blood test elevated. About to transfer to Ruby hospital in Morgantown.

Triponin levels higher on most recent draw. Next test around noon. I’m at Ruby hospital now. Other than feeling like someone is sitting on my chest, I’m doing... okay?

All of my current discomfort is due to dehydration from lack of fluids and oversleeping. I've got a headache and my hips are begging for mercy. Sitting in the chair so I can use the laptop didn't help. Other than that, everything's fine. Vitals are good.

I'll find out more about what they found when the doctors do rounds later this morning.

Glad to hear it. I'd much rather have you uncomfortable than not around anymore.

Jesus fucking christ. Took out a loan from my 401k so that I could pay off what needs to be paid off before I quit, and have enough saved for a whole paycheck, plus college fees. Well. Got the loan, paid off the bills that needed to be paid, have everything set aside... Well... One kid needs 25 bucks for school, the other kid needs 55 bucks for school, the 3rd kid just broke his glasses for the 2nd time so no more insurance on those, the 2nd kid from above broke her retainer, dental insurance doesn't cover it and the dentist is trying to say it's going to cost 400 dollars to replace a thin piece of plastic.. So... Kinda screwing up my plan by 600 or so dollars. I'm sure I can figure this all out. I have a safety bonus coming up so maybe I can save some of that for like 200 or so back into the savings. It's just a mess
