Random Video Game Crap

River City Ransom was one of the best NES games. It was a 2 player co-op beat-em-up with RPG elements (leveling up, stats, money, shops) and involved an open world map that you had to hunt down rival gang bosses and defeat them so that you could confront the final boss (at the eponymous rival high school, River City High) and rescue your girlfriend.
It's also had a couple of sequels/remakes... including one on the SNES where you could play as these two girls!

But really, it's basically Double Dragon but with RPG elements... to the point that one of the bosses actually used the Double Dragon theme. It's just been a bit more enduring than Double Dragon.

Oh, it's so much more than just music from Double Dragon. Abobo is the mayor of River City, the princpal of River City High School, and head of the RCPD. (Well, in River City Ransom: Underground.)

If you ever needed an indicator of how out of touch with its fan base Gamefreak/The Pokemon Company is, look no further than the cream based fairy.

Sad to hear that PvZ3 is continuing further down the road of microtransactions. I really loved the first game, and never played the second.

The Overwatch ones are typical Blizzard wisdom: "Move erratically to avoid being hit." "When someone announces their ultimate, seek cover."

Just in case you thought people weren't still making Skyrim memes (guaranteed "fade into the intro" meme free):

... there's a mod that turns Serana into a little blonde girl? And you can pinch her cheeks?

Apparently, Minecraft is "cool" again, thrust back into the internet zeitgeist mostly thanks to the new challenges brought about by the "Village and Pillage" update. But it's got some issues, too - mostly to do with, "How much do you dare change the best selling game of all time?"

There's also a huge mini game tournament on Twitch on Mondays with a bunch of popular Minecraft YouTubers that my daughter and I have been watching.

I love Minecraft again. Hardcore survival is intense. Just when you think you're safe, you find out that you're really, really not. Traversing the Nether is stressful as hell. It's a survival game again, regardless of what the guy in the video thinks.

(Non-hardcore survival is not, sadly.)
