Video Game News and Miscellany

Take That!

Phoenix Wright comes to the Switch, PS4 XB1 and PC next year. But only the first Trilogie and not in a complete collection with all the games or a new release.

Huh, I haven't played any of the games he's appeared in. He's like my video game version of Will Ferrell.

In other news, it seems Red Dead Redemption II is getting lots of press:
-Red Dead Redemption is finally giving us all a game with ultra-realistic horse testicles
-Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Animated Horse Testicles
-Kevin made me write about the horse balls in Red Dead Redemption 2

And very soon, we'll learn Rockstar assigned this task to their sole female game designer.

Kati read this out loud to me along with some of the reaction tweets, which read something like, “Which programmer do you think came up with this idea? Willing to bet that programmers name wasn’t anything like ‘Amy’ or ‘Clarissa.’”
You can probably shoot them to throw off a rider and get a trophy for it.
One of the first comments was: “what happens if you shoot them lol”

Konami sucks and Fuckonami and such, but honestly, the more people who get to play the masterpiece/culmination of the pre-SotN Castlevania design that is Rondo of Blood (in it's sprite based form...the 3D PSP game never felt right), the better.

Oh, I didn't realize, the shitty lazy trailer doesn't even mention it comes out Oct 26.

PS: It's digital only on the PS4 Konami, why the fuck would I preorder it?

Steam made an interesting blog post recently about Controller Gaming on PC

While it's not surprising that Xbox 360 controllers are the most common, followed by Xbox One controllers, there were some things that stood out:

- Switch Pro controllers have one of the highest active use rates. They're a minority of paired controllers, but ~14% of them have been used in the last month (it sounds low, but the only controller with a higher usage rate are Xbox One with just shy of 20%).

- There are more than 1.5 million Steam Controllers out there, with over 200,000 in use within the last month.

- Based on the numbers in the post, and other Steam usage numbers, I estimate that there are about ~4.5 million controller users in the past month, out of the ~67 million active monthly Steam users.

- Steam Controller users played the widest variety of games, over 1,000 different unique titles. Xbox One controllers, despite having a much higher install base, and the highest percentage of active users, were used with less than half as many titles.

I'm happy to see that controller gaming on PC is continuing to grow.

I use an Xbox One controller because it's, in my opinion, the most comfortable being basically a 360 controller with a one million percent better d-pad. I don't mind the PS4 controller, but I find my fingers slide off the triggers sometimes and cause uncomfortable scrapes on the underside of the trigger. Switch Pro is fine too, it's just most games have native Xbox One prompts and the Xbox controller layout being opposite of the Nintendo layout is fucking pain in the ass.

Agree with this. The xbox one might be a garbage fire of a console (mostly due to Microsoft providing no good exclusives for it) but the controller is the best console controller produced. I own two of them just for my pc's

Ha ha, fuck you smart trivia show assholes, you know the order in which Mark Twain wrote all his books, but you fuckers don't know what Destiny is do you?

Easy 3000 dollar category for yours truly. Final tally: -12400 dollars.

NO, YOU WASTED YOUR LIFE!

It's a shame that the XB1 controllers don't have gyroscopic controls. That's why I'm really looking forward to the upcoming 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+.

Only time I ever really used my Steam Controller was when I was laid up after surgery, mostly to play Shovel Knight on my TV via steamlink so I could lounge on the couch. I tried playing other games, but FPSes and RTSes with a controller are still abominable.

I suck with controllers, can't use any of them properly - I simply lack the muscle memory for it. Though some games' control schemes really weren't made with keyboards in mind.

Well, it looks like Valve is in need of some diversity training... or maybe just some diversity? I dunno. Something went wrong here.

Valve Renames Artifact Card To Make It Not Sound Racist

The card was called "Crack the Whip" and it had an effect on cards of the color black, specifically to "modify a black hero...".

The card was renamed "Coordinated Assault".
The way card games are generally designed, this doesn't look like anything other than unfortunate circumstance. Yeah, someone should have looked at the card and thought "Maybe this is bad optics" but nothing about it is intentionally racist.

A new Witcher game? Cool!

Hmm, what kind of game is this? The trailer sure as shit doesn't give any hint.

It's literally a 30 hour single player Gwent game with base management and quests and stuff.

Who is this for?

ME. ME, LITERALLY, SPECIFICALLY.

Xcom 2 is getting another expansion with new missions, soldier customizations, new maps, and a ton more. The best part is that it’s FREE (if you already own War of the Chosen).

I think the best part is the all new soundtrack options, letting you use the music from Xcom 1 or 2, as well as an all new soundtrack inspired by UFO Defense.
