You might enjoy Universal Yums. You subscribe to their service, and then every month they ship a box of treats from a different country for you to try. Each package also comes with a helpful little book that explains each food, history of the snacks, and more. My family and I love it.
Seconded! A coworker used to get this and the stuff they'd send was almost always good or at least interesting.

It's handy, but it's just a slightly more work version of the pretty bog standard camembert in the oven, no? And it's better with toasted bread than with baked potatoes, speaking from experience.
Plus I'd much rather have the puff pastry from baked camembert than pizza dough.

Pros and Cons of the past week:

Pro: My new group of students is great! They're pretty much the polar opposite of last year's group, which caused me no end of stress. They're nicer to each other, more interested in learning, and less...bad. I'm actually looking forward to going into work every day.

Con: I treated myself to a Toyworld Constructor set - it's a third party Transformers Devastator - and opened it up to find three of the figures were defective. I won't hear back from the shop until at least their Monday business hours, but I was really looking forward to that set and it was so disappointing. The defects won't actually affect the combined Devastator mode, but for what it cost, it's unacceptable. I'm likely going to end up returning it and not having that Masterpiece-style set of Constructicons.

Pro: iPad Pro, as in I got myself an iPad Pro today. I need to get a cover and screen protector, but after seven years with my current tablet, I'm upgrading, and all my apps will be up to date.

Pro: My graduate class is not meeting this coming week, and the work for the week is very low-impact. The major project that accompanied this class - a thirty hour collaborative project - is actually designed with full-time employed professionals in mind, meaning it won't interfere with my job! Finally - a professor that gets it!

Con: I can't think of any other cons. Overall, it's been a pretty decent week.

I actually support the guy who left the car getting no more of a "fine" than would usually be the case. That the police had a freak-out over nothing isn't the guy's fault, it's the police's fault. The law says the fine is a parking ticket, then that's what it should be. They should also pay for the damage to the car.

That said, I want it IN THE LAW that if you're a person who idles (or whatever you fucking call it, you're PARKED) in a "no stopping" or "no parking" zone that the fine is like 10% of your annual income. There's a HUGE problem with people doing that along a major thoroughfare here. It's CLEARLY marked as "no stopping" during morning and evening rush-hours, but there's ALWAYS some tool who's either just outright parked, or idling in the right-hand-lane. I want those people punished so hard that they'd NEVER think about doing it again, and will find a side-road to park on in that one specific time that it's so important. ONE person doing that can cause 15+ minute delays for EVERYBODY.

I'd love to know what kind of "trace" the officers found that suddenly wouldn't allow the car to be towed like every other time they've done it, but I don't suppose we'll ever hear that detail.

I feel ya. Been on the road so much lately, 90% of my diet has been beef jerky.
Mine is mostly money related. We saved a good bit of cash from July and a series of misfortunes that I've not talked about blew through that pretty handily in the last month. I didn't say anything because it would have sounded like whining and we had it covered, but that money is now gone. Had we not saved any we'd have been fucked with a capital "F". But it also means that I'm doing my best to not eat anything outside of leftovers. We made tacos Saturday for lunch and I had it for lunch & dinner both Saturday and Sunday (my wife & son had chili last night, but I'm not a fan of chili beans so I didn't eat it), and lunch today. Thankfully it's all gone now.

But today I've been having infomercial poops all day today. Just when I think I'm done my stomach goes, "But wait! There's more!"

Hey this time I saved almost all of it. We bought a few things, but for the most part we saved it. I spent about $700 overall, but my bonus was almost $3000. I spent $100 on each of the kids and the wife got new glasses. That's it.

So while the whole NAS/server thing was a wild ride, it was actually minor in comparison.

edit: Next year we're getting a new bed. The wife really needs a sleep number or something like that for her back.

Heh, I do the same, except in addition to jerky I torture my body with Hot Rods, something I only ever eat on the road. I hate them but the salty blast of grease is exactly what I want on the road.

If I end up getting diabetes, it's going to be because of Hi-Chews. Dang things are like crack.
Ramune flavor Hi-Chew are so addictive.

Edit: I just realized they aren't Hi-Chew. They're a similar soft, chewy candy by Puccho. Plus they have little gummy bits in them. So tasty.
