I’m crossing my fingers and toes that a big project bid I submitted today is accepted...

If I get it I’m going to have to cram 700 hours of work into five weeks, though, probably getting a few more contractors to work on it.

But we kinda really really need the money.

UPDATE: Phone call went okay. Lots of generic HR interview questions. If I passed the interview then I will get another phone interview from a regional manager, and if that goes well THEN I get an in-person interview.

UPDATE: Had another phone interview. This time it was with the Regional Manager and the Assistant to the Regional Manager (sort of). Lasted over an hr! I think it went well. I feel so weird trying to sell myself and abilities. Anyhow, tried to accentuate the positive and all that.
Now, I have an exam, and if that goes well, I will have a in-person presentation (of my research) and an interview with the whole team. So far so good.

We spend the first few years of most romantic/sexual relationships trying to get our partner out of their clothes, and have lots of fun doing it. As we mature, we spend more time trying to help them get into their clothes as we're trying to get to some function. Not always as fun, but sometimes really distracting.

So my dad got me a molecular gastronomy starter kit for my birthday. While I don't think I'm gonna pull it out seriously any time soon (it's very fiddly, and I have a tiny kitchen), I am interested in practicing a bit and seeing what I can produce.

Would people be interested in seeing this sort of thing documented? I'd probably make a thread in Artist's Corner for lack of a better place, and y'all can see what a mess I can make of science.

I had one of those when they were the new fad. I made some neat stuff with it, and I'd be interested to see what you come up with

Definitely.

The point of the Twitch Raid is to essentially give the host the means to direct people to other channels they might like when their own stream has ended or to help other streams they like reach certain milestones so they can hit partner/associate/whatever. It's exactly the same as hosting the channel on yours when you're offline but it comes with a fun, festive atmosphere.

So, I've been unemployed for a few months now, and I'm now following a course to help me orient myself on the labor market. Or however you say such things in English.
Anyway, the first workshop was about skills/abilities - things you can learn and can do. So, not "being honest", but "determing priorities", or whatever.
Now, these things come with a LOT of homework. I've been working on the "big" part of my homework assignment for a few hours now, and I'm pretty much done... Except, now I'm stumped on the "lesser" part. The first part was going through a list of hundreds of skills and deciding which ones I possessed, and which ones I wanted to learn/grow in.
Now, the smaller part is putting them on a matrix of "how much do you like doing it" on one axis, and "how good are you at it" on the other. Some are obvious, but I'm really struggling with things I can but don't like, and things I don't have a good grasp of but might enjoy. There's plenty of things I can do, but there's fairly little I really enjoy doing (and there's still no jobs involving hiding away in blanket forts with bottles of whiskey at the moment, so, bah). Most importantly, I actively avoid doing things I'm not good at, and I almost always at least somewhat enjoy doing things I'm good at, simply because I'm good at them.
The skills you can but don't like are called the "burnout cards" and are, of course, to be avoided...And considering how close to a burnout I was when I got fired, I'm pretty sure this is partly due to doing stuff I didn't actually enjoy...Except I really can't tell. this may be a problem in my head, but I'm really having trouble distinguishing things. No, I don't enjoy doing data input. but I'm good at it, and I don't mind it, and it's something that's regularly really useful and saves a lot of time down the line. I'm not particularly enthralled writing working procedures, but I'm fairly good at it and I don't mind. There's literally not a single skill on there I'm good at and hate doing - if I hate it, I've never learned it. And, vice versa, if I'm no good at it, I don't like doing it, even if I might learn to like it later on. This exercise really goes straight to where my problem lies with looking for a new job.

Perhaps if the exercise included skills/abilities from the social sector, it might be easier to segregate them?
Like, is a past failing at data entry caused because you are not good at data entry, or is it because other people kept interrupting you with things that weren't your assigned task?
That sort of thing.
