What are you playing?

Yeah the game is ass in third person. And it being buried in that weird menu is stupid.

I've never had control issues though, using a ps4 controller.

The epilogue to Shadow of War is awful. I can't even imagine how awful it was before this patch. I hate it.

Forcing you to do the torturously bad fighting pits to unlock your last ability is pure garbage. Oh, my captain that's 30 levels higher than the maggot level guy and literally has none of the weaknesses that match the strengths of his opponent lost because the game decided he wouldn't attack THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME? COOL. This last bullshit has soured me on this game hard. Fuck this garbage.

Not having Celimbrimbor anymore to add snarky commentary really shines a light on how fucking boring and shitty Talion is.

Fired up No Man's Sky to give it a try.

Here I am, lost on a toxic planet, and two minutes in I get killed by a floating robot. Alrighty then, now I know to avoid the floating robots.

Second try, I actually make it far enough to reach a crashed starship and craft some stuff.

So far, it seems rather interesting. Though I can already feel what people mean when they say NMS is grindy.

I finished playing Firewatch today, and I loved it. I had my doubts at some points, because the plot takes some twists, but it finds it's way to a really solid conclusion. The graphics are stunning, the voice acting is top notch, and the writing is very enjoyable.

Replaying Arkham Asylum to one hundred percent it, and because its one of my favorite video games of all time-QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQUESTION-in hard mode, when I use the grapnel gun near a guard, DO they hear it? Because in normal, I use that noisy ass grapnel gun ALL THE TIME near Joker guards, and they don't say SHIT! They can hear a man knock out another man and a suicide collar from SEVERAL feet away, but a gas powered grapnel gun doesn't register with them-AT ALL!

Man, having 4 of your dominated captains turn on you at once in an ambush is rough city. Especially since they had one of my warlords down with them.

Also, every single new enemy captain having that teleport 4 guys into the fight out of nowhere power is fucking bullshit. That power is fucking bullshit.

Other bullshitty things include enemy captains having like 45 second unskippable precombat babble. JESUS CHRIST LET ME SKIP IT.

"Hello manfilth, I've finally caught up to you you stinky manfilth whose flesh sucks and I'm going to eat it because I am bad and you know what manfilth? You know what? I'm gonna kill you manfilth, because I like to kill manfilth..."

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP
At least they're not talking about how much they like anime, or telling you their life story . . . while you're trying to save the world . . . from your twin . . . who wouldn't have been able to activate the eponymous macguffin if you'd just stayed home.

Oh, and here's a half hour lecture on nuclear disarmament.

Metal Gear Solid still annoys me to this day, apparently.

Metal Gear Solid at least had the fucking grace not to interrupt you mid-fight, mid combo to put on a monologue.

So I've played a bunch of Chasm and what I feared was correct, it's ok. Being in development for a millennia did the game no favours. So many better games have come and gone since it was announced like Hollow Knight and Shovel Knight and it just doesn't stand out. The random world thing doesn't help either. Randomly generated levels are no patch on well done level design and if you're gonna play a randomly generated game there's better ones like Rogue Legacy.

The Last Guardian: I'm patient to the end of time with the giant puppy, but the actual video game controls for moving my character around are what's making me give up. Back to Gamefly you go.

I don’t have a capable console yet, but that’s my worry, that I’ll get the game and love it but want to put my controller through a sudden 50Gs of acceleration/deceleration due to the controls.

Help me Halforums.

I want to play a game. I want to play a game that involves some kind of customizable base building or perhaps ship or conveyance or whatever. I don't want to play any kind of survival game like No Man's Sky or anything like that either. RPG shit would be preferable, but really anything. Something I can sink my teeth into. I've just played a ton of action games lately and I need a change of pace.

Building customized ships immediately reminds me of the Master of Orion series. MOO2 is my favorite of the bunch. Not sure if a 4X game from 1996 is what you're looking for though.

I installed Starpoint Gemini 2.

This fucking game is really into info dumps. Here's a tutorial screen. Here's all 11000 things you can currently see. Hope you studied that single screen. Figure it out.

It really seems like there should be a middle ground in tutorial crafting. You have games like you're describing here (or the plethora of games that have no tutorial at all and you're expected to google it or look it up on a wiki), and the games that cause me to quit and uninstall almost immediately - "Oh, I see you're an experienced 4X player. Would you like to skip the tutorial campaign?" Yes, yes I would. "Great! Since you're an experienced player, we won't waste your time with that bullshit! Now, here's a unit. Click on it to select it and right click on the map where you want to move the unit." (Rest of second campaign is a tutorial as well).

Two questions. Do you have access to a flight stick, and have you tried Elite Dangerous?

It doesn't have base building, ship customization is a big thing, but for the most part not cosmetically, but I think it has the feel you're looking for.

The Trails series are my favorite JRPGS available on Steam, but there's no base building and they are pretty linear. But it is a good RPG story that's still ongoing.

Sid Meyer's Pirates! ?
Starflight?
They're old, but they might fit the bill, if nothing else they may help you better define your search.

Got the Guardin' Gnome achievement with @Gared and @Aislynn tonight in L4D2! Thing is, I have been using a mod that turns Rochelle into Mai Shiranui, but I didn't know the model has clothing that takes "Battle Damage." At one point, we had to repeat the mall gas-can hunt 4 times, and Aislynn took so much damage she was literally completely nude. It added an extra degree of difficulty to the run because I had to make sure my camera wasn't pointed at her, as much as possible, so that I wouldn't get my stream reported to the Twitchstapo >_<

I do have a pretty nice one, but no I have not tried Elite Dangerous. Wasn't especially looking for a multiplayer game.

Elite Dangerous can be played on single player mode (I do it often when I don't feel like fighting, since I've earned a bit of a PvP bounty on me) but it does still require an internet connection, because your acting still affect the background simulation

And yet her hair is STILL perfect for some god damn reason.

So, I'm trying Elite Dangerous.

First off, man, that's a lot of buttons. It's been a long time since I played one of these games. Two, it's very awkward to play with my big ass keyboard between my flight stick and throttle since it's so necessary. Three, why the hell was my landing gear not keybound by default? Jesus. Fourth, getting fucking wrecked in the advanced combat training was pretty demoralizing. Fifth, Starpoint Gemini 2 is fucking boring.

I also played Stardew Valley coop with the lady friend last night for like 5 hours and it was the best multiplayer experience I've literally ever had.

The advanced combat tutorial is pretty fucking advanced. Most players aren't able to complete it until much, much, much later in their play experience.
