I tried to make a new teleporter last night and got an error message that the structure could not handle the object.

They've said something about giving server admins the option to make repairs instant (while still taking resources). I'm strongly considering doing that, to encourage PVP (and to reduce the frustration of repairs).

My client updated last night. So I either have to roll back or wait for the server to catch up.

I see that the quest to completely change all of the graphics continues. Good lord. It's a good thing I don't need to be able to quickly look at my inventory to see if I have the right ammo for guns or anything.

So - it looks like it really is all structures not logged off in that are invisible/missing/inaccessible. Including new ones. I wanted to take a look at one of our ground bases to see if they were impacted as well, and was going to CB:RESET myself back to Akua, but I'm holding a butt load of ammo and fusion cells and didn't want to lose them, so I built a new, fresh ship from BP (the t1c) and placed it. It didn't render graphically. There's no graphical representation of this brand new SV in Trading Station Orbit. I cannot access its control panel, so I can't change the name or register it to the faction. When I go to the statistics tab (from Registry) it tells me that the ship has a size class of -1, is 0m x 0m x0m, and has -1 block, device, light, and triangle count. When I went to the devices tab, there was nothing on it at all until I regrouped using the autogroup function and now it tells me that the core, generator, thrusters, fuel tanks, cockpit, and RCS are missing. I've submitted a bug report to Eleon.

Another hotfix is apparently imminent, per Jascha. In all likelihood, I will need to roll back the server to this morning's backup for that update, to address the missing structures.

Updating to build 1777 (and reverting save file to backup I made before updating to 8.2) seems to have addressed the issue, the missing structures are back.

Well, crap. Hummel-of-war has let me know that the repair time is linked to the BP time. So, I can't make the former instant without also making the latter instant. And I'm not sure I want to make BPs instant.

Yeah, that's a little... yeesh.

That ought to teach those damn, lazy pacifists! Go out and kill things or no levels for you!
Watching Eisenwulf level already made me feel like the game was tilted towards "kill everything."
Harvest a plant? 100-200xp. Mow down an entire peaceful grazing family of Triceratoptredons? 2000xp...each. Even the calves.

2000? That level of exp is reserved for aliens only. Alas, I haven't seen an alien baby so I don't know how much they give. Yet.

Yeah, generally, the exp has been -
Mining - 1-2 exp/sec?
Harvesting plants 100/200 exp
Killing prey animals - 400-1000 exp
Killing predator animals - 800-1200 exp
Killing passive sentient aliens - 1000-1500 exp
Killing hostile alien troops - 1500-2000 exp

I haven't bothered to look if discovering POIs/Deposits still grants exp or not.

Rexxus, in the Server Owners discord, on current 8.2 issues:

Like I've said... Eleon expects us to basically wipe all playfields with every update (at minimum - preferably, they'd prefer a completely newly generated game from scratch) for bugs to be properly addressed.

:eek::puke:

Not trying to be an asshole here, but do you think it would be better to get back into this once it finally goes live? Because this shit is going to happen a lot.

Well, knock on wood, the regen-stops-working problem seems to have missed us, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to do so. So... I'm hoping a wipe won't be necessary. But I wouldn't be surprised if, when Alpha 9 rolls around... one will be.

Also, to be perfectly frank, I don't expect this game to go "live" in at least 2-3 years. If even then. It's been in Early Access since 2015. It's the very definition of an "always-in-development" EA game. There's just still way too much on their to-do list. And I worry that when that happens, it'll be like Space Engineers - everybody will be like "Been there, done that, moved on" and all the servers (including mine) will be ghost towns.
