[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

I'm more interested that Freddy Freeman is apparently a thing in this movie. Are we going to see Shazam Captain Marvel Jr.?
Fixed. It's his freaking magic word, for crying out loud!

The early 70s SHAZAM! reissues were my first comic books when I was a kid. His name is CAPTAIN MARVEL, no matter what the lawyers say. So I'm a little salty about the name change.

The funny thing is, it's not the lawyers... Marvel simply has the trademark, which just means they can't call the film Cpt. Marvel, or the comic. The character can still be called that, as it has since the 70's when Marvel got the TM.

They could also be future proofing a Shazam family for possible sequels. I think Mary Marvel has been cast.
Don't you mean Mary Shazam?

The last time he was called Captain Marvel was back in Young Justice (So... 2011-ish?). He's been Shazam ever since.

As i recall, at 1st they made him replace the wizard, and had Freddie try to take over the mantle by proving himself to the gods of magic or something.

It was only after New 52 that they switched the name while letting him be the main character.

And i just checked, N52 was 2011... jeez.

Didn't they start calling him Shazam over the last couple of years?
Yup, but Marvel had the TM since the '70s, when the Fawcett one expired.

And, since they couldn't use the name on comic covers, some people apparently got confused and though his name was Shazam! IMO they could have avoided that by calling it Whizz Comics, or Adventure Comics, or something... it worked for Action and Detective...

For some reason I hope they go for someone completely ridiculous, like Ventriloquist, Calendar Man, or Mad Hatter.
Mad Hatter is legit creepy any time they don't play him for a joke. I could go for that.

My prediction? Victor Zsasz, because my faith in DC is low.

That's more faithful to the comics than I was expecting. I thought they'd get rid of the huge helmet, but nope, they kept it.

The Titans trailer once again affirms that fact that DC is the GRIMDARKUNIVERSE. I had some hopes for Titans as I have always loved the characters, but this shit is wrong.

The She-Ra incident is just neckbeards being neckbeards. THIS is childhood ruining. Everything that was empowering and inspiring about the original show has been thrown out a window, beaten with a baseball bat, and spit on.

This is embarrassing. This is shameful.

It's like someone said "What is the polar opposite of Teen Titans GO!" and didn't realize that the opposite of "heroes acting so selfishly that they might as well be villains" is not "heroes acting so brutally that they might as well be villains".

As I said in another thread (figuring that the conversation would be ongoing here): I'll bet Batman would have some words to say about the straight up murdering that Robin & crew are doing.

Holy crap, the Titans trailer looks just awful. It's like they distilled everything bad from the CW into one show.

To be fair, though, the comic WAS darker than the mainstream universe. Teen Titans was the book for an older audience. We had things like Psimon getting his brain graphically blasted out of his glass skull. The cartoon (as in the newer two, not the 70s one) was a bit weird in that it was flipped and aimed at a younger audience.

Comparatively, it was. However, it wasn't as dark as the modern standard of grimdark. I may be wrong on my comics history, but my understanding is that every time Titans comics have tried to go too dark, they've pretty much failed, both in sales and as creative works.

From what they've shown, though, this show isn't trying to be more "mature." It's a teenager hanging out at hot topic trying to be edgy. It's like post 9/11 Bush era angry teens listening to Linkin Park.

I feel like it would be slightly less terrible, if the super violent Robin in the trailer was Damian Wayne, as Dick Grayson WHILE an ass kicker never got that hardcore.
