Whats for Dinner?

Made spaghetti with olive oil and garlic Thursday night, and wanted to do something interesting with the leftovers, so...
plus sesame oil not pictured, got me this...

A big plate of stir-fry yum. Probably could have been even better with some thin sliced beef and veggies thrown in.

Hawaiian Poke Bowl place opened up near my house. Grand opening was today.
Poke is like a bowl of sushi fish and other stuff. It was pretty damn good.

That's my wife's in the foreground. Mine is in the background. She took a pic of hers, because mine was half gone already ;)

I took the kids to a decent ramen restaurant in our local mall. It was the first time they've tried it. Noah protested at first because he didn't want "just soup" for dinner. One look at the menu outside of the place and he decided this could be a good thing.
He had tonkatsu curry, Lily had a kid's size ramen bowl, and I got the shoyu char siu ramen. Plus we got a side of gyoza. None of us finished our meals and were stuffed to the gills. Noah said he didn't have enough thumbs to express how much he liked the curry. They only thing he didn't care for was the pickled ginger (beni shoga) garnish on his rice.

YAY I got them to try something new and they both loved it!!

I made salt cod, chickpea, and potato stew. Since I'm in Mystic, CT for the month, I took advantage of all the fresh seafood. The cod was locally caught and the littleneck clams were in the bay that very morning. I'd never made the recipe before and almost made some errors that were swiftly corrected. It came out perfectly and I served it with some fresh black bread.

Man, managed to get to the farmer's market this weekend in time to buy some real, no preservative, actually smoked bacon. They're always out when I go so it was nice to get some. You can get this stuff from the butcher shop, but the folks in this specific stall sell it for right around the same price as your average super market bacon.

At the risk of starting another forum-wide argument about the proper way to eat one's food... would you care to share the recipe? They look tasty.
Well, first, they're not at all tacos, really. I debated calling them wraps, but eh.... Anyway, they're Trader Joe's Rosemary Balsamic Steak Tips, which I cooked in a pan and then set to rest. Then I deglazed the pan with a little water and tossed in chopped onion, and a bunch of pre-chopped cole slaw mix (cabbage and carrots). Salt and pepper, and then cooked until tender; and I nearly burnt it because the steak marinade was sweet and I didn't realize I'd need to stir more often than usual. Then I sliced the steak tips, put them in the tortillas with the cabbage and onion mix.

So, I've been asking friends and family what they would want home cooked for them if they could have anything they want. My girlfriend is coming up for the weekend so she's the first test subject. She wants eggplant ziti. So I picked up some fresh garlic pasta from the farmer's market, along with some fresh ass tomatoes and eggplant. Got some fresh made mozzarella from the Italian market along with some inhouse sausage and a roll of pancetta. Fresh basil too for the salad.

I even bought a 9 inch springform pan since I didn't have one. Not everyone is going to get this treatment.

Fingers crossed I don't fuck it up. Too many incredible ingredients.

After a long hiatus, I'm back to cooking more frequently. Tonight's dinner was tri-tip, smoked over mesquite, with baked beans and green bean casserole. So fucking good.

Tonight I made pan-fried chicken, linguine, pesto using the basil from our garden, and tomato from our garden. It was pretty tasty.

Ok, making eggplant ziti pie was much more time consuming than I thought it would be. Dinner was supposed to be 1/2 an hour ago and it won't be ready for another half hour. Sigh.

Now I wish I had taken a picture before leftovers but whatever, this is the most representative of my childhood food can get. Mushroom soup chicken and rice. My version is a mushroom cream sauce made from scratch instead of campbell's soup based and basmatti instead of minute rice but God damn it my mom was a single mom with a full time job with an hour commute with three voracious teenage sons and she still cooked for us so I will hear NO shit talk about mushroom soup with minute rice and chicken thighs.

Damn, there's some nostalgia. I used to eat Campbell's Mushroom soup and rice all the time. Now I'm hungry.
Our dinner tonight was corn on the cob, potato salad, and barbecued St Louis-style ribs, and I ate until I was stuffed.
...but damn if I'm not smacking my lips at the taste of rice with 2300% of my USRDA of mushroom-flavored sodium right now.
