Random Video Game Crap

I used https://steamdb.info/calculator/ to get my hours. The money on that one isn't as accurate because it guesses based on *current* prices, not what you actually paid for the games, but it does track the hours. Doesn't work if your steam profile is private, though.
Steam hasn't always tracked hours, though. So any hours accumulated before March 2009 aren't included. And you already know there are other ways that Steam can end up not counting properly.

True nuff. Not even counting things like when Terrik leaves a game open for days and days without actually playing it.

I do the same bonehead thing. It makes my hours played in most games unreliable.

Man, the only thing I want to buy in this steam sale is more copies of Empyrion, to give away to people... but steam doesn't let you buy games to your "inventory" any more, so I can't gift them to people who aren't on steam yet (at least not and have it be a surprise) or save it for later to give.

This is a really insightful video from a YouTuber who regularly does CITIES SKYLINES videos. He looks at the layout and infrastructure of a real city, Amsterdam.

There is no way 4 million people are still playing space engineers. For that matter, there's no way 50 million are playing TF2. I are skeptic-al!

Those counts are the totals for all the people who have ever been counted as playing, ever.
From what I understand, it also tracks this playtime via achievements, so for example, Empyrion is entirely left off the list, despite having ~500k-ish sales, because it has no achievements.

Subnautica had achievements in early access. They were very rudimentary achievements though, if I recall correctly they were "craft an oxygen tank", "dive to 40m", and "submit a bug report".

I'm back into RimWorld with the unstable 1.0 build. Lots of mods incorporated into the main game, but a few of my favourite things are the bridges and waterwheel power sources. The Brutal Naked start is also awesome.

I've been playing a lot of the FF4 randomizer, and it's got me thinking. One of the characters is Edge Geraldine. The prince of Eblan. A dual-wielding ninja. Who is forced to kill his parents. And has a manic pixie dreamgirl with green hair as a love interest. Lord of his people, Edge. An edgelord from over a decade before the term became common on the internet.

Volition's twitter occasionally mentions that "There are no current plans to update the older Saints games." Makes me think there are plans to remaster SR3 & 4. I woudln't be surprised if that were Kaiko's next project. (Kaiko did the remasters of Darksiders and Red Faction Guerrilla.)
