What, no Pokemon Go thread?

I've been hunting high and low for a shiny Ho-oh and Aerodactyl. 4 Ho-ohs and 5 Aeros later, still nothing.
I did manage to catch a 100% Latios, so I can't call today a loss, but still.
And for those who aren't aware, the quest "evolve a kabuto or omanyte" will always give an Aero as a reward, so find three of those, evolve one or the other, catch and release three Aeros. Works quite well and the quest isn't that rare.

Well, I have a 98% shiny Aerodactyl and a second Mewtwo. No luck on shiny Ho-oh or either of Omanyte/Kabuto yet.

I have an EX invite for next week, but it's the first time the gym's been triggered and everyone I've talked to has invites elsewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't end up going.

I learned from this week that a group of six can kill Mewtwo quite well, so even if a small group shows up you should be good.

We often have a larger group, but our team waited and started later than the other two teams this week so some people running late could join.

I soloed my first Aerodactyl raid today. It wasn’t pretty, but o got him :)

I have another three of the evolve quests to turn in later and I keep hoping one will be shiny. I got an almost perfect one last night (14/15/15).

I hate it when the app has an update, that released for me today, and won't let me play before doing the freaking update. I'll update when I get home on my wifi, and I don't need you to try to force me to do it then and there over my cell service.

I ended up doing this week's Mewtwo with a group of 4 due to team-splitting and some minor miscommunications. Pretty sure we could've managed it with three. With any luck, next week's raid will have at least that many!

I think I'm looking forward to the raid bosses changing more than anything, though. Latias just isn't worth working for, and I can only beat up so many Ho-oh before I give up on getting the shiny and stop bothering.

I think the bigger news is that while that looks fantastic, it's also not the main branch game they've been touting as on the way for the switch. That's still apparently on the way for late 2019.

Our group is over Latias and it’s hard to get a group for her. I’d love to get a shiny Ho oh, but they seem to be super rare. There were a ton at our raids on the first few days and now hardly anyone seems to be getting any.

At this point I'm really just doing raids that happen to be near me, and if I've used my free pass for the day I skip over Latias raids as well. The 10k xp and assorted items are nice, but I'd rather have a few premium passes stashed away for the next time there are actually useful legendaries available.

I hope the weather trio cycle back starting next month; I wasn't playing much when they were around the first time, and they're all options I'd like to have for the gen 4 powerhouses that can't be too far off.

Today was good. I caught someone attacking our gym at 6 am and berried them.

Then caught a Sudowoodo at the gym later in the day.

I have no luck with shiny Ho oh. At each of the raids I did today, someone got the their second or third shiny one while I have none. I watched a guy get a weather boosted perfect IV one followed by a 90%+ shiny at the next raid and I keep getting subpar stuff now for over 20 attempts. Super frustrating.

The event has also been a total bust for me. No shiny Aerodactyl (and I do three of the evolve Omanyte or Kabuto quests daily), Kabuto or Omanyte.

Yeah, I'm not having any luck on the Ho-oh front either. There's some conflicting information, but it might be extended until June 21 if it's something you really want - I know I'd rather see new raids instead, but Niantic seems pretty opposed to moving things along any more quickly than they do.

I'd say I'm happy that adventure week is ending, but it looks like we're going back to the baseline game for a while and I get bored of the glacial pacing without any bonuses. Guess it's time to focus on getting some more gym badges ranked up.

Nah, it's all luck. Shiny raid boss is roughly 1/50 if the numbers I've seen are right, and individuals' sample sizes are small enough that people are going to have wildly different results. It's a bit frustrating, but at least shinies don't affect performance.

It’s more than a bit frustrating to me. For whatever reason, it bothers me far more than not getting perfect IV Pokémon. Maybe I can accept that’s not happening and I’m happy with the 93-98% ones that I have.

I need to accept the no shiny thing and move on.

I do accept that it's all RNG, but it's not a very fair one...and I do wonder if there are ways of influencing it.
Someone around here has eight (!) Shiny Omanytes and four Kabutos - he also has several shiny Ho-ohs. Yet
I've seen his Dex: he hasn't really caught any more than I have, and I have one Oma and none of the other two. I'm now 0/12 shiny for Aero, 0/120 on :) Kabuto...and 0/43 for shiny Lugia and 0/23 for shiny Ho-oh, I think.

I was out again today and someone got their third shiny Ho oh (I've been there for their last two and they have far fewer fights than I do) and someone got their second (I don't recognise them and am not familiar with how many they've done. Maybe not many with our group, but possibly many with another?)

I'm kind of disappointed that it's sticking around until the 21st. I'd rather it go away and something new came in.

Yeah, between the extension of Ho-oh, the lack of a new event, and the fact that it's been deciding to dump ridiculous amounts of rain on me when I go out to play I think I'm going to end up playing a lot less until the next community day. I should really be making a push to get my level up so I can power up further, but it's just not compelling without something to go out after.

A close call so near the end of the event...But this one's mine:D
Now the only one missing from this event is Aerodactyl...don't think I'll manage him though.

Keep doing several of the daily research and the raids and you might get lucky on him :) I can solo the raid now which is fun, but intense.

We had a lady post a funny picture in our chat yesterday. Her luck is about like mine. As in she’s gotten nothing shiny this event. I don’t know if she has a Ho oh, but none of the other three. So she and her husband went on a one hour walk and she asked him to start an account recently to play with her and he plays very rarely and only with her. On their walk he asked “Why are mine always green while yours are brown?” Dude got three shiny in a row and a shiny Aron as well. She shared pictures later and said that she nearly got ugly over it lol. He had no clue. Cracked me up :)

28 caught now (had only 1 before the event), 0 shiny...And the event ends in 4 hours, 2 of which I'll be spending at home cooking and eating, and dropping off my girlfriend at her arts class. :p

Yeah, I've caught more Pokemon in the past week+ then(probably) the last 2 months, and not a single shiny. Bleah.

Oh! Oh! And I did my field research and timed it so I'd be ready June 1st... and they give me a freakin' Zapdos. I WANT MY ARTICUNO, NIANTIC! WHERE'S MY ARTICUNO?!???

That same lady’s husband got another shiny Kabuto this morning. She was suitably horrified.

In some good Pokémon Go news for me, I have 2 EX passes for next Tuesday about an hour and a half apart :)

Always pay attention to time zones. Whatever changes they do always go into effect at 10pm here. I turned in my seventh quest the first and deliberately waited to open the box 'till after that time to get Arti instead of Zap.

I managed 13 Aerodactyls today, but no luck. No more raids today and no stops with the right quest left within 10 miles from here...no shiny Aero for me.

I got blocked on both waves for next week. Bad mewtwo this week and none next after raiding heavily - I'm not happy.

I did my final Ho oh and I’m officially 36-0 for shinies.

I also did my first two Kyogres and went 50/50 on catching them and no shiny of course, lol. I’m happy to have a new legendary to go for, but I was really hoping it would be one without a shiny form. On our final kill, I watched a guy get his fourth (I was there for three of his) and if I continue not to have any luck on this one too, I’m going to be very discouraged. It’s meant to be random, but I’d like to think that at some point I’m going to see this feature of the game.

I’m seriously considering starting over with another account.

I recently saw a post about shinies explaining the odds. Assuming Vrii's correct and there's a 1/50 chance of an encounter being shiny, doing 36 encounters only has you at about a 52% chance of getting a shiny. So slightly unlucky, but nothing crazy. It's a bummer when you see other people get crazy shiny luck, but them's the breaks I guess. This one dude I know went 0-70.

If it were just that one, it would be disappointing, but striking out over and over at every event with every possible shiny is starting to defy the odds here lol. I'm glad that I can't do the math :)
