Oh come on. Clearly "secret" wasn't the operative world. If it was the whole "hate to disappoint" thing wouldn't serve any purpose in the sentence, because Sanders wasn't suggesting such.

In order for the cross to fit, it might have to have been smaller, indicating that Jesus isn't as important.
That FOX logo sure is big, isn’t it?
And I asked Jesus, “How much do you love us?”
And He answered, “This much.”
And He stretched out his arms...

I saw that he had ridden a horse to the polls.
I did not see how poorly he had done so.
Most of my in-laws are horse folk. I can't wait to show this to them.

The hardline stance on "sweat of your own brow" is so weird to me. Personal hard work should definitely count for something. But unless you grew up in a literal vacuum, lots of someones gave of themselves to get you where you are today.[DOUBLEPOST=1513178024,1513177900][/DOUBLEPOST]
Roy Moore rose a horse to the polls. Then this happened...
To be honest, I really hate when the internet does this (about anything). As much as I dislike defending Roy Moore on anything, I dislike this crap even more. I see it on Imgur/Reddit all the time. Woe unto thee if you post anything about weightlifting, for example. Apparently the entirety of Reddit lifts, bro, and everyone else does it wrong.

I agree with you in general, but in this particular example, he did it as a stunt to show voters what a "true American" he is. It is were a random "Roy Moore has videos of him horseback riding on his Facebook page", I think your statement is correct.

Yep. There's a difference. That said, most public politician activities are scripted, so why not the mode of transportation.

In an age where the public has decided that everything is a message, might as well turn every action into a message, because the instant you don't think about what your actions might possibly convey in a 2 second clip or sound byte, you're going to be ripped to shreds for being yourself.[DOUBLEPOST=1513188679,1513188572][/DOUBLEPOST]I don't know what I'm trying to say. I expect being a politician sucks, no matter what side of the aisle you're on. You can't win. You can't break even. Past a certain point you can't quit - people are still vilifying past politicians who hold little real influence today.

I think you need to find a better hill to defend than Moore. His entire message is "if you're not a white, straight, evangelical, you can go fuck yourself."

I'm not interested in defending Moore. In the post you're quoting I was making fun of him and bush for essentially the same kind of political stuntsmanship, but then I veered off course and wondered aloud how hard it must be to always be so heavily scrutinized that everything you do might as well be a political play.

That affects everyone on both sides, though, doesn't it?
