YouTube Video Essay Series Idea

So I'm thinking of doing a video essay series on YouTube discussing themes and critiquing comics. Specifically on COMPLETED works, not current or ongoing. So specific stories, graphic novels, or creative team runs.

The videoes would be in the ballpark length of 10 minutes. Mostly positive, to counter Linkara's "this comic sucks!"

Fellow comic friends, I beseech thee. What are some books or runs you'd be interested in seeing a video on?

Hmm, if I recall correctly you've said in the past that Death of Superman was the storyline that got you into comics so that's probably the logical subject for your first video. Crisis on Infinite Earths as the iconic "Event" storyline. Walt Simonson's run on Thor still probably best defines the character. Alan Moore's run on Captain Britain tends to get forgotten next to the other stuff he did, but is still worth a look.

Death of Superman and Crisis are two definites. Not sure if Death of Superman would be my first video, but it's a solid lock. You're right that it's what got me into comics.

You know, I've never read ANY of Moore's Captain Britain. Read some of Simonson's Thor, but not much. Something to look into.

Don't forget to sift through at least part of Peter David's run on The Incredible Hulk.

If I were, I feel like I'd have to cover the full monty. And that'd be a huge undertaking.

In the meantime, I finished the first draft of an essay tonight. It's just in essay form right now, not a script or anything. But it's something. 1,100 words.

And for those curious, I chose to do Scott McCloud's THE SCULPTOR.
