Former President Trump Thread

Given the whole thing with the trump people attacking yet another relative of a dead soldier, I wonder: Are terrible people the only ones who work for trump, or does working for trump just turn you into a terrible person?

Speaking of the military, EO today's allows for retired veterans to be ordered back into service.
That’s not a Trump thing. The ability to recall retirees was military policy before Trump. What this EO appears to be doing is removing the cap on how many retired officers can be brought back into service at a time.

Trump Lets Air Force Recall 1K Retired Pilots has a lot of good info.

And now I feel dirty because I defended a Trump Executive Order. :p

Tee Hee. A firm with two employees, one of them friends with the Secretary of the Interior just won the bid to rebuild Peurto Ricos power grid.

Of course they did. I'm sure both of those employees will be on the ground in PR within the next few hours ready to get to work. Just like our new ambassador to Canada... who apparently firmly believes both sides of the climate science argument. So she believes that climate change is a very real and pressing concern that could lead to serious environmental harm, loss of life, and destruction of property AND she believes that climate change is bullshit made up by the Democrats and China in an effort to destabilize the US economy by urging responsible, low-pollution power sources. Because those two things aren't mutually exclusive, right? Right?

Climate change is a real and serious danger. Global warming is a made up Demochinese lie. In fact, the Earth is cooling and we need to produce more CO2 in a hurry!

Also, while the company probably shouldn't have gotten the contract, "only two employees" is kind of a cheesy way to put it. They have two full time employees in their HQ. They have 280 people, mostly subcontractors, working for them in PR.

That's a lot of Public Relations!

30,000.00 in donations to Trump and awarded a 300 million dollar contract so far outside of their expertise that Puerto Rico is not likely to ever have power again. Sounds like the best investment ever.

Can we get some links on this story? I've seen a bit of reporting on this, but where's the money trail reporting? I haven't found that yet.

From the first link:
Federal Elections Commission data compiled by The Daily Beast shows Colonnetta contributed $20,000 to the Trump Victory PAC during the general election, $2,700 to Trump’s primary election campaign (then the maximum amount permitted), $2,700 to Trump’s general election campaign (also the maximum), and a total of $30,700 to the Republican National Committee in 2016 alone.

Colonnetta’s wife, Kimberly, is no stranger to Republican politics either; shortly after Trump’s victory, she gave $33,400 to the Republican National Committee, the maximum contribution permitted for party committees in 2016.
I assume that they mean: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Victory_Committee when they say "Trump Victory PAC"

I feel bad for the people of PR though. They're getting screwed over many times.

Well this is the headline this morning:
Washington Post: The Clinton camp and DNC funded what became the Trump-Russia dossier: Here’s what it means
National Post (Canada) : Clinton campaign helped fund research that led to dossier on Trump’s alleged ties to Russia: source
Daily Mail (UK) : Revealed: How Hillary paid for notorious 'golden showers' dossier on Trump: Her campaign lawyer funded dirty tricks firm's research into his Russian links which came up with discredited claims - (This 3rd one is only there because in the headline it explicitly says it's the "golden showers" one)

People can read articles for themselves. Not posting excerpts. Definitely calls into questions "bias" and "how much fabricated" though.

Don't tell me you're shocked that opposition research exists on *both* sides.
Heck no, but it's still a bit of a difference in believability if it's a document produced by an opponent and then "leaked" as an "intelligence document" (or whatever), versus being open about who funded it, especially when it has "interesting" details in it (like the golden shower thing). One is seen as scandal, the other would be seen as a hit piece with "obvious" falsehoods.

The main problem IMO is that everything is "believable" about this president, at least to an extent, so it's kind of hard to tell if it's a shocking expose, or just fabrications by an opponent.

Oh good, now all the Trumpkins have a clear idea they can point to whenever someone criticizes President Trump.

"It's fake, Hillary probably paid for it!"

I want you all to go home and finish watching Stranger Things 2 this weekend because a grand jury just gave Mueller sealed indictments that will be executed on Monday.

SPOILER: Nothing will happen. Either some low level flunky from the campaign gets brought up on charges and hung out to dry, or everything gets blocked by a spineless Republican Congress because tribalism in America demands it.

Woah Stranger Things takes a much different turn this season than I expected.

The Secretary disparaging people complaining about the contract as "dishonest media or political operatives" should raise more red flags.

The swamp was drained to replace it with the biggest, classiest toxic waste dump you've ever seen.
