Former President Trump Thread

As much as I dislike Trump, Pence, and Ryan, I feel Mitch McConnell is taking the grand prize for ultimate shitheel so far. I seriously want to punch him in the face whenever someone actually asks him a hard question and he just smirks and laughs without saying anything, like he knows he is a fucking villain and knows we can't do shit about his schemes. Even Trump at least feigns caring, McConnell just does not give a shit.

PBS: Supreme Court partly reinstates Trump’s travel ban

The Supreme Court is letting a limited version of President Donald Trump’s ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries take effect, a victory for Trump in the biggest legal controversy of his young presidency.

The justices will hear full arguments in October (..) In the meantime, the court said Monday that Trump’s ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen can be enforced as long if those visitors lack a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.”

(..) A 120-ban on refugees also is being allowed to take effect on a limited basis.

It's only a crime when the other person does it. Duh.
Said everybody ever?

I'm not saying this just to be contrary, but as Christopher Vogler said in The Writer's Journey (2007, so no, George didn't say it first, and I'm not asserting that Chris said it first either necessarily), "Every villain is a hero of his or her own story." IIRC, very few criminals (especially not people who do it for long periods without getting, caught, ie: the mob) see what they're doing as "bad" in any way. Extend this to the rest of human behavior, and it's not hard to see how those that are powerful abuse it routinely, without remorse.

As G'kar said, "You're not sorry you did it. You're just sorry you got caught!" Only after do they (sometimes) express true remorse when they actually realize they made an error/atrocity.

He's the ACTUAL worst.

He's alive and not crippled today thanks to March of Dimes treating his polio on the government dime but refused to even hear them out over their opposition to his current bill.

I guess the only takeaway is that the US would be better off by making sure sick kids aren't able to get healthcare because then future Mitch McConnells would be dead.

I'm not serious about that. Fuck Mitch McConnell.

What, a republican being "i got mine, fuck you!" ?

You don't say?

Can someone please explain to Trump how the Supreme Court works? Allowing some of the provisions to go through until the actual court date is NOT voting 9-0 in favor of the ban. (At best, it was 6-3 as well, 3 wanted to reinstate the whole thing until the court date, 6 only allowed partial)

He also tweeted that he has passed 38 Legislative Bills "despite Democrat obstruction". He hasn't, he has signed 38 Executive Orders.

Vote on the Senate version of the health care bill delayed due to lack of votes.

Verrry interesting.

They just gotta figure out how to hurt poor people more. The current plan is too generous for some of the republicans.

The big problem is that they need to put on a show for their donors. The moment those little Koch-suckers actually pass one of their murder bills, they take the heat for everyone's suffering. They'll get voted out by people who'd like to have their healthcare back.

Actually...

One thing I can't seem to find anywhere: the tax cuts in the ACA repeal are clearly skewed toward the wealthy, but is that different from the taxes before ACA? In other words, is it just undoing the ACA, or are they redistributing the tax cuts from lower income individuals to higher? I suppose, given the ridiculous complexity of our tax codes, there may be no way to know this, but it would be helpful.

Everyone is focusing on teh Donald's tweets this morning. Keep an eye out. Something big is sure to drop while we're not looking.
