Aww yeah, that's the kind of problem-solving I like in a game. :D

How old is your PC? These unity based isometric games aren't exactly taxing.
It's new, but the video card isn't top of the line. I seem to either have a comp with awesome gigahertz and a shabby video card, or a great video card and crappy processing. But you're right; I'll have to check on the specs once available.

ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT are the minimum cards listed for Pillars of Eternity, which is very likely running the exact same engine.

Oh hey, I got a code for Gears of War 4 from the video card I purchased. Alright, I'll give it a try, never played a gears game.

Oh, it's not a steam code, it can only be gotten through the windows store. Well, how bad could this be?

Ok, Windows store wants me to update first, and will only do so if I turn on automatic updates. Fine, whatever, I'll just turn those back off later.

Oh good, it decided to scan through my computer and "update" the drivers to my flight stick, changing it to a generic USB device. Now it's not recognized by the actual driver installer. Ugh, I'll have to go and manually change that driver now.

Oh, before I can play the game, I need to create an Xbox live account, and install the Xbox app to my PC.

Oh, it's wanting to turn back on all those garbage live tiles I turned off first thing.

Oh, it wants me to link my new Xbox live account with a Microsoft account, and make that my windows password, and...

You know what? I'll just not play Gears of War 4.

Jesus Christ, they want you to fly through more rings than Superman 64.

Yeah man, I used to know a guy that did QA for Sony Online Entertainment, the amount of time those guys have to put into work is insane. He'd sometimes be out of the house for upwards of 20 or more hours straight when crunch time hit.

Yeah, the elevated comment at the bottom of the article made that point well - why should a voice actor who puts in a few hours in the recording studio get royalties when the programmers who put in over a year of grueling work do not? And you know a sure way to make sure no game gets made is to have to give every single person who works on it royalties. So really, I'm not sure royalties for VG voicework will ever be a thing - they'll just find new voice actors who aren't unionized.

The idea of crunch time seems really stupid to begin with. Treat your employees like, you know, actual employees, instead of expecting them to put in hours upon hours of unpaid overtime just because you claim that's how it's done.[DOUBLEPOST=1476728865,1476728747][/DOUBLEPOST]

If Skyrim has taught me anything, it's that you only need like three voices, tops, to make hundreds of NPCs.

I mean, I'm sure he still grabbed a nap/food/etc in that time, but unfortunately harsh deadlines are the nature of the beast for most publishers. On top of that, QA is a very easy-to-replace position and this was when SoE was running high on EverQuest/SWG. I think he was actually doing QA on the console version of EverQuest, now that I think about it.[DOUBLEPOST=1476728962,1476728907][/DOUBLEPOST]Yeah, look at Star Wars Rebels. It's the main cast of like 4-5 and then Steve Blum and Dee Bradley Baker fill in everything else.
