Where Do You Stand? (2016 Election)

If a candidate is caught with strippers and meth, you know he'll be more receptive to the idea of socialized medicine. Statewide dental plan, walk-in clinics, etc.

Honestly, what this does is highlight just how bad a candidate Hillary Clinton is.

She started with *monumental* name recognition - everyone eligible to vote had likely heard of her. She is backed by the biggest concentrations of wealth in the nation: Goldman-Sachs, Citibank, Viacom, Wal-Mart, etc. She has had years to put friends, former employees, staffers, and mutual business partners, into position throughout the DNC. Until the primaries actually started, she had the monopoly on media coverage (and still has a huge advantage there).

Her main opponent? An obscure 74-year-old Independent Senator from Vermont that most of the country had never heard of, who refuses to use PACs to fund his campaign.

And with all that, she's had to cheat to win, and is still *barely* winning. With the audits and election fraud being looked into, even some of those victories might be stripped from her. A brokered convention is a definite possibility.

That is not a strong candidate.

Thanks in part to the phony "war on coal" rhetoric, Obama nearly lost the 2012 WV primary to Keith Judd, a federal inmate. It'll be interesting to see if he outpolls Hillary in some counties this time.

I saw a whole lot of parked, abandoned, rusting coal trains in Grand Junction last month for the "war on coal" to be entirely fictitious.

There's a difference between shitty business practices and refusing to admit a region is mined out, and blaming all your troubles on "teh ebil EPA."

It's all the gub'mint's fault when a man can't drop a mountain on his employees with impunity any more. Doubly so when the same man can't just walk in and get a $60 million tax break simply because he wantses it.

Waving Mexican flags, throwing rocks, and burning American flags is not the sort of thing that is going to get you the political results you want, California protesters. Probably the opposite.

Not a Trump supporter by any stretch, but how exactly is burning an American flag "sticking it to him?" He's an American, running for an American election. Burning the American flag is not analogous to supporting immigration, nor is waving a foreign country's flag in protest. That actually implies that it's ok to have illegal immigrants working undocumented, and that's not ok. People are so stupid on both sides of extreme polito ideologies.

actually, you're probably wrong
Nope.

Still more than Bernie gave to the Democratic Party, which is apparently nothing.

That's the thing. He's not a Democrat. He doesn't like the Democrats. He's not helping the Democrats kick out Republicans. He's plenty happy to try to use the party name to get himself elected president, though, isn't he?

People aren't going to like this, but Bernie is only staying in this race now because he wants something from Hillary Clinton, most likely a cabinet position. He trying to force her hand to capitulate to him. He knows he has no way to get the nomination. He knows the superdelegates will not go over to his side; in fact, he's lost a few the last couple weeks. When you look at all the times when he's asked if he would work to unite the party and support the nominee, he won't answer. The only reason for that is that he's holding out for a position. What can Bernie get out of it?

Frankly, he deserves to be out of contention, anyway. He failed miserably to win over minorities in the party, acted very disrespectful and downright pissy during the debates, and doesn't know how to deliver on promises central to his platform. Never mind that he wasn't sure how many dictators North Koreas has. He's been nothing but bluster and empty promises over the course of the last year, just another demagogue.

Not true, he's only campaigned for support for a handful of democratic party members that have certain views, but given this news, he may still have provided more support for downticket candidates than Hilary.

Bernie might be waiting for the horse to laugh. That, in this case, might be some kind of scandal explosion to take out Hillary - which, while unlikely, isn't impossible. She's got enough skeletons in her closet.

If the two parties would make it possible for other parties to compete on a level playing field, they wouldn't be pissing and moaning about all these outsiders running under their ticket.

He's running dem because there's no other way he'd get a voice. Whatever his reasons, if it wasn't for the supers, who speak for their own interests, he would have had a much better chance. You really think Hillary got all those delegates without some under the table dealings? Harping on Bernie about a conspiracy theory that he's after a cabinet position when Hillary bought her seat at the table is nuts.

Yeah, let's give shit to the only guy in the race who ISN'T in it for some mysterious power grab or ulterior motive.

Dave, it's the run for the Presidency, EVERYONE that runs is in it for power and ulterior motives.
Seriously. It's all about power. Bernie ran ads in Massachusetts where he promised to make the corporations "obey the rules of the president". His own words.

Not the law.
Not regulations.
The rules of the president.

Those are the words of a man who craves power, and thinks the presidency will give it to him - never mind that's not how the presidency actually works.

^This. I don't know if Hillary had any say in this shit, but there are a lot of people fudging stuff with this part of the election and she's the one benefiting from it. But for all I know, she does have a hand in it, and is willing to steal this election if she has to.

What is it with Republicans picking crazy women to try to boost their numbers anyways? :p

They're just picking women in an effort to look more progressive to moderates. It just happens that, somewhere along the line, it was decided that all Republican candidates have to be crazy.

Well, this down ballot campaign finance dodge is a pretty good example of buying her way to power. So, alright, she promises to fundraise for down ballot races, in order for state groups to pledge their delegates and superdelegates to her. Then the money gets siphoned back to the DNC, which is a defacto wing of the Clinton campaign. That 1% that they get to keep of the $61 million she raised? $610,000, in exchange for hundreds of delegates worth of support. I have to admit, that's one hell of a bargain. That's not even 3 speaking engagements for her.

The whole reason anyone wants to be president is to have enough power to try to change the nation, and world, in ways they feel are beneficial. Of course he's after power. Who that change is beneficial to, and how it's accomplished, is what matters. That is why he's as popular as he is.

Say what you will about how he's using the dems to get what he wants. At least he's transparent about what he wants. Which is more than what can be said about any of the other candidates.
