[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

About god damn time. Can we PLEASE get someone Asian, like in the comics? Just do New Mutants if you need to fill your white guy quota.
Ooh! Ooh! I nominate Zhang Xinyu!

(Please take care if you're gonna google her at work, a lot of her pics are rather scanty. Not pornographic, but definitely risky if your boss is looking over your shoulder)

I think that was listed in the casting call, I'll have to see if I can find the article again.[DOUBLEPOST=1461291088,1461290973][/DOUBLEPOST]Well, this newer article makes it sound a lot more vague, but yeah, there you go.

*googles*

Oh, I've seen her in wuxia movies! Or, wait, am I being racist?

*checks IMDb*

Nope, that was her.

I don't know a lot about X-23, but her mother was Dr. Sarah Kinney (unless that was ret-conned), who had dark hair and green eyes. I didn't see anything about her being Asian, but she was drawn kind of ambiguously, so maybe?

Look, can we just skip the whole NYX/Zebra Daddy crap? That is some Frank Miller-level of bullshit.

I read a lot of comics, and have a pretty good knowledge of them, but those last two sentences.... I have no idea what that means.

I'm going to quote the Wiki to keep it succinct:
X-23 surfaces in New York City and is taken in by a pimp named Zebra Daddy. She works as a prostitute who caters to sadomasochistic patrons. X-23 continues to cut herself with her own claws, is mostly mute, and proves unable to free herself from the grip of Zebra Daddy. Upon meeting Kiden Nixon, a young mutant with the ability to freeze time when in danger, and Tatiana Caban, a mutant who can take on the physical attributes of whoever and whatever she comes into contact with via their blood, X-23 starts to come to her senses. Although she runs away from Zebra Daddy, he tracks her down. With the aid of her new-found friends (and the mutant named Bobby Soul), Zebra Daddy and his thugs are defeated: X-23 kills him to save the lives of her friends.
Because it's not female character development unless they're sexually abused somehow. (I assume I don't have to explain the Frank Miller part?)

Mid-aughts, when being a child prostitute or even just having a backstory with sexual assault made you a strong female character.

Frankly, I'm suspicious of any woman who HASN'T been a prostitute at some point. I mean, what's their angle? Right? Nope, can't trust em if they haven't gone on the game.

My memory is fuzzy but wasn't her surrogate mother asian? I forget these days. Thought technically she should be a near full clone, only female due to incomplete DNA.
Googling it it seems she just has 2 Wolverine X-chromosomes... making her double canadian i guess.

Although i remember it as the scientist using her own X for some reason... it was just that i also recall her niece being blonde...

Inhumans removed from Marvel's release schedule.

Bleeding Cool thinks it has to do with Isaac Perlmutter being split from the Marvel movies (to focus just on TV projects). Because while he was big on Inhumans, Kevin Fegie was not.

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me too much. Phase 3 was getting pretty dense, especially with Spider-Man added to the mix. I know Marvel wanted to make the Inhumans essentially their X-Men for the MCU since they didn't have access to the actual X-Men. Unfortunately, the Inhumans aren't nearly as accessible, relatable, or memorable as the X-Men. I like the Inhumans just fine, but they really AREN'T as accessible. They have this very outsider, royalty aspect of them that makes them less down-to-earth than the X-Men. And the movie's release date was pushed around a bit.

Maybe we'll see it in Phase 4? Who knows. I know they're starting to tinker with what they'll do for the post-Infinity War stuff, but that might take some time.

e: Woop! Too slow.

Fiege is saying it's "a question of when," but with Spidey and now an Ant-Man/Wasp movie on the bill, the MCU is getting kind of crowded.

I suspect what we're going to be seeing is SHIELD focusing more and more on the Inhuman issue or a potential Inhumans Netflix series... which is fine, really, as long as they keep handling it as well as they have.

And her center arm claw was surgically relocated to her foot, because someone thought that would be a good idea.

She also lacks the adamantium skeleton of Logan. While this means that she is much easier to injure, she also regenerates MUCH faster then he does because her body isn't always dealing with widespread rejection issues with the adamantium.

I mean, Wolverine has regenerated from basically a speck of brain hidden from an explosion inside his adamantium skull, so limbs wouldn't be out of the question.

e: He's also come back from both a napalm explosion that reduced him to ash, as well as an atomic bomb.

He regenerated from a single drop of blood, too...but I believe he had help for that one.

Actually that one is funny, because he actually dies in it from having his heart removed from his body. Which wouldn't even slow him down this century. Then his blood gets on the mcguffin crystal that regenerates him from said blood. Which means there's a Wolverine body with a chest hole, and a Wolverine heart out there somewhere... well, i guess they would have rotted away by now, but there should be at least an adamantium skeleton.

I guess the idea is his regeneration has gotten more and more powerful as he's gotten older, so things that could have easily killed him for good centuries ago are nothing now.

I still remember a comic from when I was really young during Wolverine's Japan adventures where he got riddled with bullets. The next morning he's lying in bed bandaged up and he lights up his cigar and the smoke is coming out of the bandages. His regeneration has DEFINITELY been bumped up. Hulk used to be the top end regenerator.

Heh. I have that ish somewhere.
