Gals--clothing advice?

Hi girls, ladies, and women.

I haven't worn jeans since I put on some weight, because I just never bothered to replace them.

It's hard to find jeans that fit both my legs and my hips at the same time.
Does anyone have advice for where I should try? I'd like to keep it $75 or less.

Disclaimer: I'm a cast iron skillet, not a grill.

You may want to find a local tailor, and see if they work on jeans (price heavily depends on tailor, but $20-40 is what I've personally seen). That'll at least mean you don't have to find your exact fit.

A friend of mine who needs large jeans swears by Nordstrom, though she fluctuates sizes rapidly so it's a new challenge every month.

One, I suggest getting a pair with more stretch. Not like "second skin", but it will be more accommodating than traditional, stiffer denim. I have thick thighs, and in the past, it was either find jeans that were right on my waist but too tight in the thighs, or get then right in the thighs but too loose around my waist. Two, are you longer in the torso or in the legs? I've found certain stores tend to cut their jeans differently. Off the top of my head, GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic tend to be better if you have a longer torso. Ann Taylor, Loft, Express, NY&Co, tend to cut for longer inseam.

Your problems are not unusual. I also have problems finding jeans that fit, since whoever designs jeans must assume that anyone with my bodily dimensions can't possibly be > 18yrs old. I had no car until I was > 21yrs, so I biked everywhere and as a result I also am a bit thick in the thighs. I usually have to end up getting jeans that are too big in the waist and then pull 'em tight, or too long and then beg/plead/etc my sewer* relatives until they can hem the cuffs.

*SOW-er, not SOO-er.

There are jeans from JCPenny I like. They are Lee, and I have also found that buying high waist jeans help a lot with the hip problem.

Old Navy USED to have the perfect cut, called Sweetheart, but they stopped making it in favor of something close, but is low rise so it sucks now. :'(

Uniqlo makes stretch jeans, might look them up. Pretty cheap and their stuff seems to hold up okay, I have a couple pairs of their regular denim and I have no complaints. They also periodically go on sale for around $25, I believe Looks like they're on sale right now for $30. They aren't kidding about the stretch part, this is a dude but he's wearing Uniqlos.

If you're size 14+, I like Lane Bryant's jeans. I think they tend to pay more attention to variations in body shapes. I'm actually able to find Tall length in my size and they are the most comfortable jeans I've ever had. They are around $60-90, but the store often has "buy one, get one half price" sales.

Any idea if they hold up well to flash photography?

I like Lee jeans, too. They have elastic in the waist (not like old lady pants) so that you don't get that weird gap if your waist is smaller than your hips and legs. They're stretchy, too, so they fit well.

Honestly, as much as I hate WalMart, their Old Glory jeans aren't awful. You get what you pay for as far as how quickly they wear out, but they are comfortable.

Legitimate question. Too many people where I work wear black tights, which is ordinarily fine. But when they bend over and the tights stretch out...Lady, I learn more about you than I needed to know.

This is why you hear people say "leggings aren't pants". A lot of leggings are thin and are supposed to be worn under a skirt, dress or long shirt/tunic to prevent that from happening. If you're not sure, you really should check in a mirror before you leave the house.

we just saw this outside Best Buy. Leggings are pants. Tights are not pants.[DOUBLEPOST=1460239237,1460239058][/DOUBLEPOST]To answer about jeans, do you have Reitmans where you are? They have a huge range of jeans from standard all the way to jeggings. I like the stretch skinny legs for under boots and the boot cut for pretty much everything else. They also have fun distressed ones.

That sucks; those used to be one of the types that fit me ok. I do like that high waisted styles are coming back. They fit me a lot better.[DOUBLEPOST=1460246991,1460246948][/DOUBLEPOST]

Never heard of Reitman's, but I'll look them up, thanks![DOUBLEPOST=1460247180][/DOUBLEPOST]

I used to LOVE Lane Bryant pants. I wish they would go into smaller sizes with the same fit, because they did a good job of making pants that actually fit women's bodies.

Thanks everybody!
