Video Game News and Miscellany

My Nintendo (and Miitomo I guess) releases for NA on Thursday.

While I still think Nintendo is being ass for not allowing some form of cross-buy on SNES VC games, I have a feeling they won't because of people like me, who got most of them for free through Club Nintendo. I've never actually paid any money toward Super Mario World, Link to the Past, or Super Metroid, so I can't really be one to gripe about buying them again on N3DS because for me it's really the first time. So looking forward to more SNES downloadables next month and I hope they announce even more soon to come.

The Legacy of Kain MP shooter spinoff Nosgoth has been cancelled and servers will be coming down the 31st of May.

Only everyone predicted this.

Well fucking good!

Now if only they'd make a proper LoK single player game to actually finish the story from the earlier games. Unfortunately that's probably too much to hope for.

While it is a shame circumstances colluded to keep the series from continuing to build on its world, I thought Defiance was a perfectly acceptable stopping point, at least for Kain and Raziel's story. It sounds like the canceled LoK sequel would have been a mostly separate story set far in the future of Nosgoth that would only have tangentially involved them beyond the consequences of their actions in the previous games.

Don't get me wrong, I want another one! Just more reflecting that I liked where they ended.

Not a big Star Fox fan, but that looks pretty slick.

How long has it been since the last real Star Fox game? It can't have been Star Fox 64, right?

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, due out this summer.

Atlus is releasing both a new SMT and a new Persona game this summer. Combining that with Monster Hunter ... nope, something's just going to have to be purchased later. I won't have time for it all at once.

Do you want to play a game that forces you to stop playing and watch a 30 minute live action low budget TV show at the end of every act? Quantum Break has you covered.

And he's getting a lot of shit from console fanboys over this, too.
I'm sorry, a shit game is a shit game, no matter the platform it's on.
Fucking brand whores.

What I'm almost absolutely certain actually happened is Microsoft originally had Remedy making a TV show for the Xbox One and the game was just going to be a tie-in... but since Microsoft has sort of dropped the idea, Remedy just threw the episodes into the game itself so people would understand the tie-ins. And that this was done so Remedy would be able to pursue Alan Wake 2, something they actually wanted to make.
