[Webcomic] Webcomic Appreciation Jamboree

In my continuing search for new web-comics to add to my ever-growing bookmark list I discovered a comic called "Footloose". What is it about? A young magic descendant girl learning martial arts with her parents and godmother, as she's destined to be the protagonist in her story while learning Kung Shoe(A martial art based around shoes)....so nothing like the Kevin Bacon film. Just...WHY WOULD THEY CALL IT FOOTLOOSE?! They HAD to realize what people would associate it with?!

So it would show up in web searches?

Dumbing of Age: This is the kind of shit that never gets fixed because the parents do it without even thinking about it, and it's really frustrating to see.

It's been very apparent that Walky was the favorite child for a number of reasons, some of which are legitimately Sal's fault (ROBBED A CONVENIENCE STORE AND STABBED SOMEONE) and some of which are her parent's fault. There is really nothing they can do to fix this unless Walky backs her up and tells his parents off for treating her like they did, but he's not motivated enough yet.

I may be remembering wrong, but I didn't think Sal stabbed anyone when she robbed the store. I thought it was that Amber's dad gave Amber shit for panicking, then Amber ran back and stabbed Sal.

As for this situation, Walky doing that might wake them up to it, but he'd have to do it every time they did something. Maybe not here; it's a webcomic. In TV and movies and such, people just need to be woken up once. In real life, pattern behavior like this, the person needs to be reminded against multiple times because it's so often not a conscious decision. Kind of like conditioning.

Kind of amazing how Roomiverse Mrs.Walkerton,
who plotted a mass conspiracy with the Aliens to create half-human half-martian super-soldiers
is a step up in terms of parenting.

Oh right. This is really our first go-around with this.

It's been so long since I read It's Walky, kind of slipped my mind that the Walkertons never raised Sal in the first place. Or how Sal tried to destroy the world.

... You know, Sal's behavior is also a step-up from Roomiverse Sal.

AGREED, especially since her life wasn't derailed-
from the Head Alien hunting her down and killing her parents, destroying any sense of normalcy in her life, LEADING her down a road of self-destruction AIDED by crazy brain-washing British people from another dimension.

Maybe Mrs Walkerton thinks that Sal is stronger than Walky and he needs more attention. He is a huge manchild after all.

That's still inappropriate, but you might be right.[DOUBLEPOST=1457214110,1457214048][/DOUBLEPOST]

"DANNY!"

That scene will always be burned into my brain.

I gotta get around to re-reading It's Walky someday. I don't think I've read through it since it ended.

For those of you who are still reading Scary go Machinery, I humbly ask what the FUCK is going on? And who else is pissed off Lottie gave up mysteries?

I feel like Gunnerkrigg Court has these boring subplot arcs because the author wants to do some character development, except nothing interesting is going on and he doesn't realize that we see the characters develop anything when things are actually happening, so there's not reason for these fuck-around interludes unless there's a purpose to it. But there isn't, it's just the kids deciding to sneak out, and then having no idea what to do with that freedom once they have it, and it's just ... meh. Each time.

Yeah, that other time they sneaked out got me to stop reading the comic for months.

Dear lord, One Piece has like FIFTY chapters where they just chill, how does Gunnerkrig fail at it so hard?
Because the focal character doesn't act like a kid, mostly because of her distant and emotionally abusive father's unwillingness to treat her as his daughter.

And I originally wrote that as "MY distant and emotionally abusive father". Holy shit.

The author of Wilde Life made a joke that if her kickstarter got to $80,000 she would draw an adaptation of a particular fan's smut fanfic.

The kickstarter is at $65,000 with 5 days to go.

"Mordawwa Queen of Hell" is EASILY the best Scary Go Round story ever! I have no idea what's going on, NO attachment to the secondary characters, and any plot-twists that may come have no effect on me because as I've said I have no idea what is going on!

Okay snark mode over, this latest story is REALLY annoying to follow, even more than the last story where none of the teachers nutted up to take control of the friggin' school.

I want to know if the itsthetie guy is in any way connected with the guy who used to do simulatedcomicproduct (Kevin Forbes). The art is so similar.

So hopefully Gunnerkrigg Wednesday will be the last page of the chapter, then Friday will be the interlude page, then Monday will be the title page of the next chapter, so a week from tomorrow we can get back to the real comic.

Dumbing of Age: I swear this family cannot comprehend that they almost lost their daughter/sister.
Forgive me... I'm channeling years of CCD and dealing with my Catholic family into this:

It's not that they can't, it's that they would have viewed such a thing as God's will and that she would be at his side, instead of with a bullet in her skull, 6-feet underground. And they can't fathom why she's bitter about everything that happened because they think Becky's father was justified. Ironically, this is because they are giving into pride... Becky's father was like them, so he must be right. But if they stepped back and looked at the situation, they would realize that it was pride that put that gun in his hand and the only reason he doesn't have a daughter anymore is because he refused to accept what was happening. This will never happen however, because that would require them to actually confront and examine their beliefs and that is something basically no one is willing to do.

And that's the hippocracy of ultra right wing Christianity: They believe that everything is God's will, but they will still treat you like shit for any involvement in it.
