Minor victory thread

I've only known this girl a week and I feel so comfortable with her. More so than others I've been with.

Honestly , it's a little scary how quickly we're becoming comfortable with each other.

But...I really like her. And I want to see where this goes.

Spent a lot of time choosing parts for new computer builds for my wife and Cranky. Seriously, a LOT of time going over specs, prices, compatibility, etc. Started speccing in Nov '14, started acquiring parts late Spring '15.
Finally settled on Win8.1 systems based on Broadwell (Intel 5xxx-series) i5-5675c for her, i7-5775c for him (yes I know I still owe everyone a spec list, I haven't forgotten).
Got really, really trepidatious because these CPUs were delayed, delayed again, and then delayed even after they were finally released. Delayed so long, in fact, that Intel's 6xxx-series (Skylake) launched almost immediately afterwards, leaving me to wonder if I was just being stubborn and clinging to older (tested) tech out of nostalgia when Skylake was out there with lower power usage and higher performance (in most cases) and would've been more of a leap forwards, but we were already accumulating "older" parts for the day when the CPUs would finally become available.
And then...

1) Intel Skylake CPUs bent and broken by some third-party coolers ("Bendgate")
2) Intel Skylake bug causes PCs to freeze during complex workloads (like the P90 all over again)
3) Skylake users given 18 months to upgrade to Windows 10 ("...or else" - after July 2017, Msft will offer Skylake users only the absolutely most critical updates for Win7/Win8.x and "strongly encourages" them to go to Win10, subsequent CPUs will be Win10 and up only)

...ok I feel much better about my choices now.

Locker I happened to choose at work today is broken. It'll lock, but not unlock.
Now it's after hours and I want my coat so I can leave.
Got it open in 15min without damaging anything (my stuff nor the locker).
Won't be putting anything of any real value into the lockers in the future, though (not that I was making a habit of that anyway).

The imagery on this poem is good but the meter is a bit off. Please revise and resubmit in the morning.

My locker broke, this piece of cock
It locks up fine, but won't unlock
My plans to leave are now all scrap
My coat's still in this piece of crap
You know how cold it is out there?
I can't leave with no coat to wear
It seems I'm out of options here
I really need to get my gear
A shimmy here, and twist a bit
I hope this lockpick's the right fit
And there we go, it's open now
Knew I'd get in there somehow
It only took quarter an hour
A savvy touch and a bit of power
The best part is, nothing was mucked
(Well, not mucked more, the lock still sucked)
The lesson here, I took to heart
Don't use the lockers, if you're smart

Received our laser cutter and mostly have it put together. Just a few cables to attach and pick up some thin wood pieces and we are all set to start making stuff with it. Minor victory since we haven't tested it out yet.

It hurts a lot, and I had to make someone pick me up so I would actually go, but I'm at a Skate Fitness class right now! First time putting forth physical effort since September. And I am dying.

It's pretty cool when technology works FOR you. I came home, trying hard to remember to start the torrent for the new episode of venture brothers, and when I went to my torrent server, I found my keyword spider had already found it on IPTorrents and downloaded it, exactly the one I would have wanted, and it's already ready already. I created that entry last season (how many years ago?) and it's nice to see it's still working and automatically grabbing the torrents for what I want to watch.

Yar, I be a modern automated pirate, yo ho.

I'm so happy that I work at a job that is so relaxed. Especially for when depression overtakes me, I can just call in and they won't get mad - I don't even have to explain myself. I feel guilty for not going in, sure, but I'm so relieved I can be at home today and clean house and cry and not worry about job things.
