Anyone else think Fozzy Bear looks kinda like a chicken nugget? As much as I enjoy him, I fear he'll trigger a childhood based craving and eat Macdonald's POISON!

I made it to the playoffs in all three of my paid fantasy football leagues this year. In two of them I was the overall top scoring team. In one of them I was undefeated.

I lost in all three of them today. It wasn't even fucking close in any of them. I got destroyed.

Some days you are the hammer, some days you are the nail.

Man I thought Jerry Garcia had a very different speaking voice from his singing voice, but Adele gives him a run for his money.

It's my first day of vacation and my wife kicked me out of the house. She's having a Christmas party for Psi Beta (psych honor society). I guess I shouldn't have asked if I could make jokes about psych not being a real science.

Anyway, she gave me a coupon for a free movie and I am literally the only person in the theater. I'm at The Night Before because the matinee selection sucks. I wanted Spectre, but that would be another 1.5 hour wait. Here's hoping it doesn't suck.

My car is at a quarter tank, but my dash says I still have 153 miles left, and the voice of my dad telling me to never let my tank go below a quarter as a teenager is at war with my lack of desire to have to stop at the gas station.

Gas stations bring cheap beer, jerky, soda and gas....

....in addition to the fuel you'll be adding to your car.

This is probably a weird subform of schadefreude, but I generally get a bit of enjoyment of seeing when someone posts a really strong opinion about something generally unimportant, and basically all of their friends and respondents starkly disagree. Case in point, a friend posted about Pete Rose remaining banned from MLB for violating
Major League Baseball said:
MLB rule 21 MISCONDUCT section (d) BETTING ON BALL GAMES. Any player, umpire, or club official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has no duty to perform shall be declared ineligible for one year. Any player, umpire, or club or league official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanently ineligible.
The responses are almost universally "No, he bet on games when he was a player and a manager, including betting on his own team, that's a pretty clear violation," as well as pointing out the Chicago Black Socks (Shoeless Joe Jackson, et al) being banned for life just on the suspicion of taking bribes to throw the world series, among others.

It's a polite discussion, no exchange of "Fuck you"s or even slinging around the word idiot. But it's very clear that the OP has very little support on his wall on this subject. And that makes me chuckle.

The lone voice of support so far said, and I quote, "Well, he may have broken the rules, but he didn't cheat."

It doesn't matter what you've accomplished with your life. If, in our society's eyes, you have done something wrong no one is permitted to appreciate all the good you did. Every historically important figure is being scrutinized against today's standards, and anyone attempting to appreciate their contributions is shouted down by people who focus on the bad things they also did.

Of course, if you, for example, made questionable calls on the team you happened to be managing because you had money riding on the line - or if you were in fairly deep with your bookie and needed to throw the game - that would tend to overshadow your individual accomplishments. Especially when those personal accomplishments include putting yourself in the lineup as a far-past-his-prime player instead of using younger talent that's on the bench, just to pad the record.

My stepdad used to say, "one oh-shit will kill a thousand attaboys." Me, I call it "But you fuck ONE GOAT."
