I just want something to play not-too-stressful vidja from the couch (since my TV is connected to my computer with a super-long HDMI cable), but every controller/solution I find is disappointing in some respect.

I'll end up just building a couchdesk and putting a keyboard and mouse there, sigh.

When I played WoW, I was a healer, and bound all of my spells to functions of mouse clicks because that is how you heal in WoW. (With the right mods of course)

This is the main reason I enjoy both a console AND my PC.

This was my solution, though it is more tailored for a bed than a couch.

In warhammer online, the imperial knight got aura chants much like a WoW bard, and much like a bard, they could be twisted because the recycle time was 2 seconds and the pulse of the chant usually lasted 4. This meant it was possible but inconvenient to twist two auras with a vanilla keyboard, and possible to twist 3 if you did nothing else. SO many guys in my guild who played knight got nostromo speedpads just to macro aura twisting.

I mostly played as warrior priest, who was melee/healing hybrid, where his healing mana actually came FROM doing damage. He was positively riddled with attacks that were non-stacking status effects - this one cripples, this one stuns, this one drains, this one only works after a parry, etc. I considered getting a speedpad and working out a macro, but in the end I got a software UI mod that actually let you apply conditional logic to a hotkey slot and dynamically changed what was in that slot based upon checking the condition of you and your target... basically you could set it up such that it goes

If I just parried use ability 1
Else if target is not crippled, use ability 2
Else if target is not stunned, use ability 3
Else if target is not bleeding, use ability 4
Else use ability 5.

I basically mashed that one button over and over and became a melee-healing machine.

Oh, also I managed to tweak a healing grid ui mod so that it... uh.. exploited a loophole in the API so that it didn't check for line of sight (which was required for single target heals and rezzes) until after the spell was cast... so I could single target rez and heal from inside a safely locked room. But that's another story...

I don't like how closed console platforms are, tho. The only exception is where I really like an exclusive/product line (gazes at used PS2, bought expressly for playing the Guitar Hero series).

I'll have to look when I get home, but generally one seems to be as good as another. Just check the wheel configuration at the bottom, the long cross type might work better for a couch than the H-bracket type.

See, I just played a Magus and was rendered completely pointless by the multitude of cleanses that would remove ALL of my DoTs faster than I could apply them.

Magus was always so goddamn nerfed. I felt so sorry for those poor bastards. Before the cleansepocalypse, my main was a dwarf engineer. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to give dwarf engineers two kinds of AE grenades, the first kind of which only did a little damage but debuffed the damage resistance to the SECOND kind of AE grenade, which did much higher damage. The little woman and I (she played a rune healer) routinely went into the low tier RvR areas (especially Mandred's hold) and defended it just the two of us, with me constantly spamming one grenade then the other on the entire attacking enemy force, and her just making sure to heal/rez me if I did something stupid. We raked in the kills and realm points that way, defending against 20-30 enemies just the two of us.

That got nerfed PDQ, which is when I switched to Warrior Priest. Then the cleansepocalypse was the final nail in the coffin and I never played engineer again.

Not to mention that number of buttons isn't even the biggest factor for what makes a good mouse. Sure, multiple buttons are good and all, but I find dpi to be far, far more important. If I wasn't able to switch dpi settings... that's not a world I want to think about.

Oh yeah, I wasn't even counting the DPI adjustment buttons as buttons on the mouse. It is kinda handy to be able to adjust that on the fly.

I was tempted to get one of these for Diablo just so I would stop hitting the stupid Windows key while playing.
I eventually just pulled the keycap off.

Monday, I was on a fairly regular sleep-wake schedule. Sadly, I had to work a night shift. So I drank some coffee to stay alert. Which meant I couldn't sleep. Which meant yesterday, I went to sleep far too late (7am-ish) and slept straight through my alarm clock. I woke up around 2:30pm. Still no big deal...Except to day, I have the early day shift, so I had to get up at 5am to get here in time. Getting up at 2:30pm does not help when you're trying to get to sleep at midnight. Even if I did go out in the evening and had some really cool beers...So I lay awake....all night.
I'm now up since yesterday afternoon, having slept only fitfully and often-interrupted before that. I'm over the half-way point for my 12h shift, as it's now 3:30pm...But I've been awake for more than 24 hours and my alertness and tolerance for inanity and stupidity is rapidly dropping. Not a good thing in a customer service deal thingie. Ugh. Me want sleep.

It's this one, and blast, the price difference is big between US and EU. Amazon DE is the cheapest at €235, which is about $260 - it's $215 in the US.

I wonder whether or not a 4K monitor is worth it already, though, especially on a small desk like where I'm sitting. Not a lot of games that support it yet....

But I don't have one - I'd like one for programming and work (well, two if I were to be honest) so I could SEE ALL THE THINGS AT ONCE. My laptop at work doesn't support it, though, and work isn't going to change that any time soon.
