Fallout 4 - Power Armors for EVERYONE!

I'm only level 7; but with how I did my character, I'd have to blow 5 levels' worth of perks to get Local Leader. I'm just going to have to find my own way.
No you don't. I just picked it up when my level was available. No need to dump points anywhere to pick skills anywhere in the tree as long as you match the requirements.

Yup. My charisma is at 1. I wanted to do something different this time, so instead of doing general decent stats with minor bonuses in one or two, I left multiple stats at 1 and boosted others high up.

It's made things interesting.

I haven't done the BoS stuff. I think the main guy is a dick and I haven't joined them. Maybe on my next playthrough.

And holy crap. Unlike Skyrim, the monsters don't have anything to do with your level. So it's entirely possible to get in WAY over your head and have to leave until you get better gear or a few levels. You basically can't just do main quest stuff because it's nearly impossible to win fights. I'm level 18 and I just went into an area that were I even a few levels lower I'd have melted away into a lagged pool of radioactive jelly.

I hate the "legendary" thing. I know it's a video game, but that Diablo-esque thing is just way too video gamey for me.

Oh look, randomly it's the LEGENDARY RADROACH! They're not even given names or anything. If there were specific legendary creatures in places named it would be a lot better.

Once I hit 15, I suddenly started getting MUCH better weapons. Even good pipe weapons... I'm not sure how much of this is from the 60% damage boost I get from perks, but it's STILL much better.

Some of the randomizer elements don't make any sense. I ran into a robot that wouldn't be hurt by my laser musket because it had "mutated" to resist that. Not sure how exactly a robot can mutate ...[DOUBLEPOST=1447673015,1447672940][/DOUBLEPOST]

Some of it is just the right pick-ups, but that seems to be random. I got a Combat Shotgun at level 8 and I'm loving it.

Finding an area with enemies who use laser weapons is also a big help, because you can really load up on ammo with the scrounger perk.

Legendary Assaultron can suck all the powered up super lasers. Holy fucking shit.

"Oh, an assaultron, cool. Oh no, it's legen..."

/super laser sound followed by body crumbling to ashes sound

Ok how the hell do I start getting perks? Everything is greyed out and for some reason the only perk I got is barbarian. I cant find anyone talking about it online. I am close to level 10.

Press T when you have your Pipboy up. That'll let you pick your perks.
I know that. I can get to the window. But all the perks are grey. I can hit alt or ctrl to raise the rank but those just reset once I close the perk screen. The only thing it lets me do is add a special point when I level to the top row, but every single row under it is closed.

Built myself a tree house. I would build more levels but settlers don't really seem to want to go higher then 2 stories, so didn't bother. I might do it anyway and just put some turrets on a smaller third platform, or something. But for now I got this!

I have seen string-lights in the world, so I hope that is something that's unlockable by finding the right picket fences magazine. Also, need ladders.

Every screenshot I see and every story I hear is a blow against my willpower to not get this game until the price drops.

Being financially responsible sucks. :(

Have you tried clicking on the perk and looking at the bottom? Once you click it it should ask you to hit Enter to confirm. Or "E". Whatever.

Or, explained better: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/que...er-than-increasing-special-skills-at-level-up

I have never regreted buying a Elder Scrolls or Fallout game from Bethesda on Day 1. It IS worth the 60 dollars, unlike so many other titles.

Should've grabbed it during Green Man Gaming's 25% off anything coupon sale. That's when I did.

Okay here is a screenshot.

One of the things that I realize is I never picked the Barbarian perk, nor do I remember even having a tutorial pop up on how to handle perks. I think when I went back to my house and picked up the comic book, it gave me the perk before I was supposed to learn about it, and fucked something up. I hope I don't have to start over.

Can you double click the perk you want? I think alt only shows you the effects if the next rank.

Alternatively, plug a controller in. I've found keyboard to be so bugged for everything.

Double clicking does nothing. It does not even show the confirm dialogue or the E option to accept it. Just tab, rank up, and rank down.

The greyed out ones are the ones you pick. The dotted silhouettes are the ones you can not pick. Click on what you want then click toward the bottom to confirm. Or press E.

As I already said, there is no confirm button, there is no E option. It's grey all the way down and nothing will let me select them outside of marking up or down ranks randomly. Look at the picture, I even have toughness selected on it, which only requires 1 END, and I can't do anything other then the options you see below.

Do you run the game as an admin? Failing that you may have to uninstall & reinstall, which sucks.

Your SPECIAL stats are very high for someone who has never been able to pick a perk. If I remember correctly, there are only enough points to get 4 in everything, if you spread them evenly, on character creation.

Oh shit. You just helped me inadvertently discover my problem. When I started playing and leveled, it told me to put a point into the perk tree in my SPECIAL, so I did and just kept doing that each level, not realizing that the PERK POINTS shared with the SPECIAL POINTS. The reason I can't get perks is because I keep spending them on my SPECIAL. God damn it. I might as well just start over.

Did I mention I hate the Fallout 4 UI? Okay to get out of this menu you have to hit tab, but to get out of THIS menu, you have to hit ESC. To enter this menu, hit E, but that one, his ENTER, and THAT ONE, hit Space. Also this one you have to use the arrow keys. All while showing me a three second tutorial blip that is hard to notice when I have a feral goal trying to kill me.

I highly recommend a controller. It sucks, because I wanted to play with KB&M like a proper game, and shooters with controllers are ehhhhh, but the UI is so bad for KB&M that I had to give it up.
