[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

Disney/Marvel seem to be pretty good about not holding trailers back, especially now that they end up leaking online withing hours of premieres.

In other news, the preview of Captain America: Civil War at D23 seems extremely promising.

Stark has some good lines showing his POV, leading to the conflict between the groups: "What would you call a group of enhanced individuals who inflict their will anywhere they choose?" "We have no boundaries. We're no better than the bad guys." -- Clearly Stark is saying that a group like The Avengers is too dangerous to be without oversight or restraint - basically, he's pointing out that the only thing holding them back from being villains is their own morality, and maybe that's not such a good thing. That's a completely legitimate point, and helps center the conflict on "two conflicting visions of Good" and avoiding the Idiot Ball / Villain Ball of the comics (drafting villains, setting up concentration camps for non-compliants, registering people more or less at gunpoint, creating killer robot clones of your allies...)

Don't worry, he'll be Hitler by the second act.

Update on Marvel's release schedule:
The big news is that “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is being added to the schedule on July 6, 2018.
“Black Panther” is being moved up to February 16, 2018.
“Captain Marvel” is being moved back to March 8, 2019.
Three untitled movies have been announced for May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020 release.

Here is an interesting bit of news about Marvel's upcoming releases. The story only has a single source, so take it with a grain of salt.

Den of Geek is reporting that one of the 2020 Marvel releases will be The Fantastic Four. The studio would recover the rights to the FF as well as important parts of the FF canon -- Dr. Doom, the Silver Surfer, Galactus -- as part of the recently announced deal that allowed Fox to plan two new TV shows based on the X-Men.

After the horrible clusterfuck that was the last Fantastic Four movie, Fox would be smart to try and give back the rights to the franchise that keeps flopping for them in order to get more freedoms with the franchise that makes them all the money.

The story will reportedly center on a “distant planet” that is “not Asgard and not Earth.” It’s unclear what this planet might be in the context of the film, although the constant rumors (amid denials) of a Planet Hulk film are likely to feed into fan speculation.
Please be Planet Hulk, please be Planet Hulk, please be Planet Hulk...

Planet Hulk was no doubt one of the best arcs Marvel put out lately, but I think it would be corny as hell in live action.
I don't see how they would do it live action, there's really no point either, unless they gave Banner a much bigger role. Although considering movie Hulk has always been dumb Hulk, with no variation the movie would have to change a lot anyway.

That would explain why a Thor movie has become Planet Hulk: Beta Ray Bill doesn't exist in the MCU so it would be weird for another alien to have Thor's powers.

I was like "That's isn't Dr. Strange!" but then I realized this is likely his post accident, pre-magic phase, which makes sense he would look like an hobo.

It looks like they're replacing the iron fist series with a Punisher series.

That's such a bittersweet thought because I'd love a Punisher series but I'd REALLY like an Iron Fist one too. Especially after Madam Gao in Daredevil.

It's okay! They're thinking of making Iron Fist a straight-to-Netflix movie instead of a series. Which, I imagine, would be how to fit a concept like that into a budget. Better to do a 2-hour movie rather than spread out the cost to 12-13 episodes.

True. I just want a Heroes for Hire series.

I do not want to see a Punisher series. He is hands down the least interesting character in the Marvel universe. I would rather watch a Paste Pot Pete series. But on the other hand, I see how it fits into the Netflix-verse they're forging.

If they based it off the Greg Rucka run I could see it working. Where he's basically a presence, like a slasher movie killer, and you follow the people around him.
