[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

Oh hey 4th person who said they wanted to rent a place together! Whats that? The location we're looking at doesn't work for you anymore even though we've been to multiple house viewings and it wasn't a concern then? So you think you might want to just look for something on your own? But you aren't sure yet and will let us know more when you're back from vacation in 5 days? And most houses get snatched up in a matter of hours?

YEAH NO PROBLEM WE'LL JUST WAIT THIS IS THE BEST OH MY GOD I'M SO HAPPY AND NOT AT ALL STRESSED ABOUT THIS

Serendipitously, today's XKCD seems to be related.
My personal belief is that truly good communication is measured by the degree of accuracy with which your word construct manages to reconstruct the thought(s) you started with inside your head once they have bridged the gap and entered another person's head.
Also, I have been trying to be good recently about remembering to use "data" as a plural.

So you did a poor job just there cause I can't figure out what you're really saying. I think it's "if your audience understands you, you've done it right"

Good grammar and pepper word choice can help that along, but ultimately doesn't matter. For example, because every body knows what you mean when you say "Could of" that phrase is perfectly cromulent. It may make you look bad in certain circumstances, mind, but it achieves what you set out to do.[DOUBLEPOST=1441991883,1441991766][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh. I finally understand what you posted. I was reading too casually, and couldn't be bothered to parse the long sentence until my third read. (I'm eating lunch and drinking Guiness)

Wookie is pissing me off again. We were supposed to work on something at 1, he texts me at 1:10 that he's "stuck waiting for service" at a restaurant. Doesn't get back until 2. I moved my lunch to make room for this shit, there's going to be some clarification of requirements this afternoon.

Gas, are you the Wookie? (in the Tyler Durden sort of way)
No, in this particular metaphor, I am the Ewok.

His nickname is the wookie because he's a 6'7" version of me, physically. And to a degree, personality-wise. But he's not a computer guy.

And yes, he is 6'7".

Yeah, from now on I'm reading your posts in Edward Norton's voice.

I always hear them read by Joe Pesci.

So what are you tryin' to say here? That I'm some high pitched little Italian sounding psychopath who can't take a joke, here to threaten and intimidate just to amuse you? Is dat it? I'm just tryin' to understand here. You sayin' I sound like Joe Pesci? Next I'll be talkin' about how they always fuck you in the drive-thru and damn that kid what burned my head wit a blowtorch. But it ain't like dat, I don't cook no MAGIC GRITS what absorb water faster than regular grits, ya fuckin' balloonheads.

I've seen one, possibly two of these movies.

I've seen all five. I still don't know how Marisa Tomei got best supporting actress for My Cousin Vinny. I mean, she was funny, but 1992 couldn't have had a strong field. And I say like having really enjoyed the movie.

The film was ultimately those two people. She really did do an amazing job of supporting Pesci's character. I don't remember what else was in the running, but I do remember that I didn't disagree with the choice.
