Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Ask for every Monday to be Bring your Pet to Work day, Tuesday to be Bring you Kid to Work day (he's basically your little baby right?), Casual Wednesday (when you're casually hanging about he's always around right?), work from home on Thursday, and....well, ask for an exception for Fridays :p

How about a stay-at-home husband? I'll cook for, but there will be absolutely nothing even remotely resembling consummation. Also, I'm a cat person so you'll have to get rid of the dog.
Wait, I thought you said husband. Sounds like a wife to me.

No drama, just a little sad. Rusty, our 21-year-old tabby, won't make it to morning. He's been weak and barely responsive all day. He's at peace right now, and it won't be long.

I'm gonna miss that old fuzzbutt.

Edit: He passed away late this evening. In the morning, I will bury him between a couple of rose plants.

Every once in a while I wake up from a dream about my last cat and I lay in sadness for a few minutes. I never thought I'd miss him that much

Nothing like hearing the media blast your home constantly. I've been by Emmanual AME a million times walking (Charleston is a pedestrian city like many old eat coast US cities). To hear it told, we're all a bunch of backwards racists.

Even in the face of what happened, the confederate flag still flies at the state capitol. What do you expect? But that's another thread.

It's 1:21 a.m. and I'm sitting alone in a bar drinking Guinness.[DOUBLEPOST=1434864665,1434864081][/DOUBLEPOST]It's 9 minutes later and now I am the only customer in the joint.

I loooooove beef jerky. Beef jerky looooooves to get stuck between my teeth and make my gums bleed.
I normally read quickly.
For a moment after I clicked to read the new posts in this thread, there was enough delay that I thought an accompanying picture was going to load in the empty space beneath this sentence.
I admit I cringed.

I'm waiting at the doctor for an appointment and a kid and his dad walk in without an appointment and the dad badgers the poor receptionist until she tells them to take a seat. Kid has pink eye, this isn't a walk in clinic and my immune system is not good.

Then another girl without an appointment and "lumps spreading across her face" comes in.

Omg save me!

Well, that job I went out and got another teaching license in less than a school year? I didn't get it. There were two positions, and I didn't get either. I feel I was led on, and I'm pretty bitter about getting screwed over like that.

Damn, that sucks.

It amazes me when a small herd of dipshits enter a movie theater, bringing a small infant to a loud rated-R movie ... and then the baby is the best behaved of their group.

The biggest local story of the week: (edited for privacy, though if you really wanted to, you could probably find the original)
A 44-year-old man from the ... area, whose name has not been released, has died in an apparent boating accident near [the] Park, on the ... River.
The RCMP say the investigation into the death has just begun. [aside: as far as I know, no real investigation has occurred. No autopsy, death is 'accidental, by drowning'.]
The area is just east of [town] and police were called out at about 4:45 a.m., according to a statement issued shortly before 9:30 a.m.
An initial call reported an overturned boat, with “a number of people having been thrown into the river,” [aside: 7 people, to be precise] according to the RCMP, who were called in by workers with [the] ambulance service.
“One 44-year-old male ... was pulled from the water unconscious and by-standers in the area, attempted to perform CPR, until such time as the ambulance personnel arrived on scene and took over efforts to revive the man,” police stated.
“The man was transported to the ... Health Center, were efforts continued to revive the man.” [aside: the other 6 were all treated for hypothermia]
He was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital.
On Sunday, I think every clergy in town got a call from the hospital at 6am to come in.

Guess what poor bugger gets to do the funeral? (Tomorrow)
Me.

Professionally, it's been a good week. I've been able to spend a ton of time with the family, and I think it's been useful for them.
Personally, this has been a horrendous week. The family visitation at the funeral home was yesterday afternoon, and the widow asked that I attend. It was the first time any of them - mother, dad, wife, kids - had seen him since the accident. There are no words that really get across what that was like.

And I'm avoiding writing the homily. It would have been easier to do if I had never sat down with the family. But now I'm invested. I need my clinical detachment back.
