Video Game News and Miscellany

Buyer beware on Arkham Knight, the Steam reviews thus far are giving it an almighty thrashing for running like garbage on high end hardware.

The NeoGaf thread for the PC version of the game is a bloodbath.

As has become my tradition with anything WB related, happy to wait for the GOTY version around Christmas time.

I'm waiting for the last update to install right now.

...I'm not getting my hopes up. And if this is true? I'll be pissed. Because this game is why I chose to get a gaming rig instead of a PS4.

This isn't that uncommon for games attempting to push the envelope as much as AK is. I don't know what video card the people having problems are using, but given the partnership with nvidia, I imagine AMD cards will probably be a bit behind until they get some better drivers out for it.

Basically, if it runs like shit, give it a week to be patched and better optimized.

Scummy WB is scummy. Anyone who got the game with an Nvidia card ahead of time have had their pre-order Harley Quinn DLC stripped from their accounts. Showed up as something they'd get right up until today.

Jesus, Jim Sterling was right. WB somehow flew under the radar for quite awhile. Turns out, they're almost as bad as EA, possibly worse.

Game seems to run fine so far for me. I'll see how it handles at the actual gameplay.

For what it's worth, Nvidia sent out a driver update yesterday, and specifically mentioned optimization for Arkham Knight. I wonder if that's relevant for the people having performance problems.

Played it for a bit tonight (or this morning, I guess, since it's almost 3:30 AM). There are some stuttering issues and I need to put the graphics levels pretty low, but it runs mostly pretty smooth for me. Since the Batman games are my favourites to play, I think the next video card I'll get is an Nvidia.

But yeah, it's not unplayable. Stuttering at points, like I said. I don't know if it's the game design, but I find driving outside in rain to be annoying because the rain is almost blinding. Not sure if that's the game or the graphics limitations on my computer.

WB is the new EA. They're fast tracking that shit.

Wow, with Arkham Knight being the main reason I had to update my computer this year, between this news and the Xbone announcing backwards compatibility, I'm strongly considering upgrading my console instead.

Sounds like an excellent opportunity to try out Steam's new refund policy, and then re-buy the game if and when you hear it is fixed.

Xbone's backwards compatibility only affects 18 games right now. Might want to wait and see what the real list will be like this autumn.

AMD released a driver update/patch specifically for Arkham Knight. After installing it, the game runs MUCH smoothly for me, with little to no stuttering. I still need to keep the graphics details relatively, since my computer's specs can't handle the game on high settings.

Oh, and the game is pretty great once you can actually play it.

Iron Galaxy did the PC port, guess what other PC port they did. It rhymes with Markham Morigins.

These fucking garbage port houses like Iron Galaxy and High Voltage who constantly churn out trashbag fuckshit garbage "PORTS" all need to die.

I feel the need to tell you that SpecialKO was telling a lie, but I think it's too late now and you're probably getting Gasbandit killed.

So, well played SpecialKO.
Yep, the best way to deal with Witches is to sneak past them. If you really must fight her, though, a molotov works best.
:troll:

Publishers who value the PC market so little that they throw these jobs to trash port houses need to die.
