[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Huh, well it looks better than Mall Cop 2 and Pixels. I hear for the first time of this ( the movie and that we are not creative apparently). So I went to the official site here and as it turns out that is not a trailer. It is a 3 minute short movie in form of a trailer. However creator Jan Zenkner wishes to turn this into a full feature movie. I can get behind the reasoning for making a movie like this with the current state of German movies and the lack of genre movies.

I didn't say Germans aren't creative, I said German creativity is cringeworthy.

Visual aid: Creative, but cringeworthy.

...I actually quite liked that trailer short movie.
As for "subtitles", unfortunately, it's simply easier to make movies in (bad) English than to convince Americans to watch a movie with subtitles.

Well no, but it goes to many other countries as well - people are used to seeing stuff in English, even when subtitled there's a difference based on what language people are speaking. And I don't necessarily mean *Americans* as much as *people who buy movie rights to show them in America*.

I usually prefer watching dubs to subs, but if I see something in subs first, and dubs come out later, I usually can't stand the english voices.

I've long given up those discussions, but the amount of French speaking people who'll say things like "the English voice of Brad Pitt* just isn't as good as the French one" is ridiculous.

I prefer dubs subs, and I want to watch them 2-3 times.
First time I might miss a bit as I soak up the dialogue.
Subsequent viewings I get to watch the movie with the gist of the dialogue already under my belt, but now I get to watch expressions, body language, etc.[DOUBLEPOST=1430241480,1430241425][/DOUBLEPOST]

I want to hear the French Johnny Depp.

Do you mean subtitles instead of dubs?

I wouldn't say I prefer only dub over original or the other way around. With anime usually subs especially when the german dub is really horrible and involve a lot of screechy girls. Exceptions are Ghibli movies, Lupin the 3rd, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Beebop, Samurai Champloo and all such that have a "gag dub". With live action movies and shows usually both (dub with hard to understand actors) and with cartoons I prefer the original dub especially in cases of mistranslated jokes (Simpsons and Futurama).

The german voice of Bruce Willis is awesome, it sounds like he grew an extra pair of balls. For some reason he had Schwarzeneggers voice in Die Hard 3 which was really distracted.

Maybe you'd miss less if you watched it at 1x speed :p. Some of those subtitles fly pretty fast.

I still can't figure out how the premise of "The Wedding Ringer" makes any goddamn sense. Somehow there are a bunch of affluent dudes out there who have gotten far enough in life to be in a committed relationship and want to be married, and yet somehow don't have any friends or male relatives, and for some reason having a best man is completely vital, to the point where they pay a stranger money to concoct a secret past together that they're just revealing to their families now, at the wedding, thus starting off a marriage with a bizarre web of lies. And this happens often enough that a guy makes a business out of it.

That's just completely insane.

Maybe they just bought one of those mail order brides, and are just lying about everything...

It's a shitty comedy, it doesn't have to make sense.

Though, it sounds like it would be an actual reality show.

A British Bruce Almighty starring Simon Pegg? Interesting...

The premise sounds somehow familiar, wasn't there a movie or something on TV like that? Then again everything is somehow familiar to something. Anyway the trailer made my wish come true. The moment I heard John Cleese and saw the other aliens I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be great if all the aliens are the Pythons?"

Interesting. The first preview I saw for it made it look like he was going through Alzheimer-like symptoms. There's absolutely none of that in this trailer.

Chris Hemsworth shows off his hammer.

You know, the funniest part about that is, having just watched Thor and The Avengers, seeing him shirtless was like, "Wow, he looks like he's lost weight, he's much thinner than usual."

As for the hammer, they had that as a throw-away gag with Gavin in Lazer Team's trailer, too. About at the 2 minute mark (it was later discussed on the podcast, since his girlfriend Meg Tunney had quickly responded to questions on Twitter/etc about it that it was totally a prosthetic.)
