The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

Not a bad week for me. I'm going to be starting a cartooning club at my school, and had the teachers poll the kids to gauge how many might actually sign up. Half the classrooms reported back...and it's 110 kids so far. That's half the rooms. My space will be the school library, which can hold one class worth of kids. Yikes.

Also, Supervillainous was just today accepted into The Collective of Heroes! (The kids can never know I have a webcomic. Oh, the irony.)

I have tomorrow off, which is neat because I usually work Saturday's, and IT'S GONNA BE MY BIRTHDAY!

And I'm gonna be thirty...

...

Huh, I might need to move this over to one of the whine threads. I'm gonna be old.

Yeah, yeah, just because we weren't born sometime between when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Ares doesn't mean we haven't reached the point where we can feel our bodies start their long process of shutting down, so keenly after 30ish years of getting stronger each year. :p

I have to agree with Wasabi, 30s were good, very good even, but the 40 have even been better. Now to get the girl out of the house...

So Saturday night was the first of several comedy events I'm doing in the next few months. I've been working on some different stuff and it's just never really come together. Until Saturday night. From the first words I had the audience in the palm of my hand. There were no dead spots in the material and I only found myself blanking once and someone from the crowd yelled something and I took him down fast, which took me right back on track. The kicker is that I did a solid 20 minutes of killer material. In the comedy world, 20 minutes is the holy grail.

I have gigs this Saturday and the following Saturday. I am hoping I didn't just catch lightning in a bottle and can do it again.

The GM of our radio group just had me come into his office to see how I would feel about being Operations Director with a huge pay increase.

The downside is, it'll basically be all the stuff I'm doing NOW plus some more work.

Which would REALLY bite into my halforums image posting time :(

But I suppose we all have to grow up some time.

Does this mean it would be easier for me to get a home studio set up and do phones for you?
It's not that end of the workflow, unfortunately. Has more to do with increased oversight of commercial traffic scheduling as well as formalizing a lot of the extra stuff for the new station I'm doing already.

I'll tell you right now, if this arrangement hadn't come through, I was pretty much ready to turn in my 2 weeks. I was seeing a steady increase in my workload, our Traffic Director's health keeps deteriorating (congestive heart failure coupled with being too stubborn to stay on her damn oxygen), and if they didn't start showing me the money I was gonna be Outtie 5000.
