American vs British English. Americans tend to use singular for things like "couple", British tend to use plural. Both can be correct. It supposedly depends on whether you treat the couple as one entity doing something, or two people doing something.
Actually I think that "make out" should be in quotes since it's a colloquialism for "getting the motor started."
Yeah a friend of mine was going on about this on New Years, and I'd never heard of it either. The same friend is the one who a few years ago told me humans aren't supposed to eat wheat. (Not gluten, not grains, not a no-carb thing even. SPECIFICALLY wheat), so I call shenanigans.

Wondering how hand washing is supposed to work with such faucets, I looked you Youtube....
I can't speak for the Brits, but here in Canada we are still having discussions about moving away from static hot water heaters and replacing them with as needed heating units to avoid the possibility of Legionnaires Disease.
Is this a real threat? The only reason I even know of this disease is because of House. I've never known anyone or heard of anyone ever getting this.

I think the actual outbreaks are relatively rare because the optimum mode of transmission is not simple contact with the water but aerosolized/pulverized water (so that you breath it, I guess).

Anyway, Bill Gates is famous for saying something like "640K ought to be enough for anybody.” back in the '80s. Obviously, we've long since passed that threshold; and since he was one of the "leading men" of the generation, he's been mocked for it endlessly.

Back in the 80s, Bill Gates was quoteds as saying that 640kb of ram (the highest amount available to most 8088 systems) should be "enough for anyone" for an indeterminate amount of time.
