Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Actually, the funniest part is that my area is supposed to get the highest accumulation this time. Most* of the time, we just get the fringe inch or two. (Or foot depending on how much actually hits Boulder)

It's no longer a white out, and the road is too warm to turn into a sheet of ice (that will be later tonight I'm sure), so trusting it would be better in an hour worked out woo!

Of course I spent that hour shoveling 2 inches (lol) of wet snow so that it's two inches that don't need to be shoveled later.

Currently we are $300 overdrawn in our account, with probably several thousand in overdue bills.
The reasoning why is complicated.
My wife decided to start volunteering at a non-profit company to get some experience for a career in fundraising. A great idea.
However the owner of the company took notice of my wife's work ethic and, within 3 weeks, promoted her to not only director of his non-profit, but also chief of staff of his campaign for city council.
This has caused a huge deal of stress for us here at home. Basically my wife is working 7 days a week, 18 hours a day, at absolutely no pay. The only thing we do get is $500/week that goes to the babysitter to watch the kids when both my wife and I are at work. This was the arrangement that my wife made with this individual. This verbal contract ends March 3rd when the preliminary election occurs. He will need 60% of the vote to win that election, which is unlikely since there are 14 candidates. He might however make the run-off. This of course means another two months of my wife working with this guy. Probably for the same hours.
The whole situation has gotten from bad to worse quite quickly. Everything that my wife has told me about this guy pretty much labels him as one of the worst bosses ever. He praised her one day, only to completely demoralize and humiliate her the next (such as screaming at her and throwing paperwork on the floor then demanding that she pick it up, all in front of the volunteers working on his campaign). On top of that he has been asking her to contribute to his campaign by purchasing staff meals, gas and other necessities. He has promised to pay her back for these purchases with campaign funds, but as of now he has yet to pay back a single cent.
As usual my wife's devotion to a cause has her blinded by how much she is being used. Or rather I think she may understand that she's being used, but she hopes to power through it for the sake of a possible payoff in the end.
Supposedly when the election ends she has a paid job waiting for her. Either as his chief of staff if he's elected, or as director of his non-profit.
All of this a completely verbal contract of course.

So sure enough, with all of my wife's contributing to his campaign we did exactly what I knew were were going to do: Get overdrawn. The payment fees are killing us, and we have so many outstanding bills that require immediate or quickly upcoming payments that I'm actually getting quite frightened. That and I'm going a little crazy basically taking care of the kids (Four of them all under the age of 6 if you remember) all by myself since my wife is absolutely never available.

That's my whine. I'm sure I'll be posting again soon.

Dude, that absolutely sucks.

I'm pretty sure your wife's boss is about to hose you both. All verbal contracts from a bipolar politician who regularly abuses a volunteer?

IMO this should be graduated to full-sized rant, not a whine.

Tell your wife to run like the wind from this insanity. I'm willing to bet all my doomweasels that the only thing waiting for her at the end of this nightmare is more headache and heartache. The work experience is not worth it.

I wouldn't put up with that kind of treatment in a position where I was being paid actual money.

Unfortunately, I also remember that Shawnacy's wife doesn't seem to want to listen to him very much.

I seem to remember Shawnacy's wife being insane if he does anything that doesn't involve her as well. This + her being gone all the time and spending all your money?
Actually we had an interesting chat about that. Since her boss has been an absolute dick and has made some pretty obvious flirtatious comments at her, I asked her what she would do if we switched places for this scenario and my boss was a woman.
She said she would leave me if I stayed. So I asked her why she feels its okay that she stay in this situation. She said it's because I'm more lenient than her.
I started to question that logic, and then she got mad at me because she felt I was trying to make it excusable for me to be flirted on by other women.

Every post you make about this woman, I have to bite my tongue harder and harder.

And just cause I'm already whining...

In the last year my wife adopted two rabbits (Flemish Giants), six chickens, and another dog that she "found" in the street. This put us at 10 animals in a small house with 4 kids (if you include the dog she "found" the previous year). Nature has a funny way of course of balancing things out. We had to give away one of the chickens because it turned out to be a rooster (neighbors weren't happy) and then the other 5 were killed by a combinations of hawks and a baby bobcat. The same bobcat was also responsible for one of the rabbits getting killed (he got a scratch that got badly infected), and the second puppy got out of our backyard through a hole we were unaware of and was hit by a car.
Following her heart and not her head, my wife recently adopted another dog she "found". This time a yellow lab.
Clearly the scales needed balancing again and the new dog quickly did away with the remaining rabbit (who I was quite fond of sadly).
My wife of course blames me for the rabbit because I was home at the time.

Edit - nope... one last try at not saying it.

The hug is for both of your posts. You're in my thoughts and I hope things start getting better soon.

Please dear god just make sure your wife understands that she should never be alone with this man, if giving her the benefit of the doubt, I don't want to imagine what would happen.

Fuck it, I'm drunk enough to say it.

Shawnacy, RUN. FUCKING RUN. You're hooked up with a sociopathic bitch from hell who is ruining your fucking life. If you keep letting things go the way they are, we're going to be reading about a murder-suicide in less than five years.

And your wife's boss is fucking her - figuratively, at least. There will be no payoff for her indentured servitude.

That's more or less the direction I was going to go as well. It's just a shame there are kids involved, which given that 4 kids in 5 years was her idea, strikes me as another manipulation to keep Shawnacy chained to her. But even so, at this point I'm wondering if the kids would REALLY be all that much worse off if their mother was out of their life. I mean, she's not at home any more, she's not making money, and to my mind, sounds as likely as not to drive them all into a lake on any given day.

Yikes what's Shawnacys threshold for the Minor Rant thread? Accidental chemical castration?
Maybe he's trying to stay under the radar. Maybe after some of his past rants, he got busted, and he's trying to still vent but lay low, here.

I know, that's not how it works and anyone can just check all his posts from his profile page..

Question. No matter how it turns out, if it winds up in a courtroom, how much of what's been said here about his situation could end up as evidence?

School district called at 5:30am to tell everyone that school is not canceled. Thanks for waking me up an hour and a half early for no good reason. Jerks.

Doc used an interesting term during my appointment yesterday. 'Burnout.'
I've had this position for less than a year.
This is not a good sign.

I am also now back on anti-depressants after being off of them for 5+ years. So, yay?

I feel like this thread needs a recalibration!

Here's my whine.

I bought a chromecast. Amazon said "This item is commonly bought together with one of these" and it showed a chromecast usb power cord, suitable for powering the chromecast from your TV. And I thought, oh neat! I'll need that.

My package got here today.

CHROMECAST COMES WITH ONE ALREADY. /facepalm

So basically I spent 6 bucks I didn't need to.

/whine.
