Well, I mean, not to rain on the funny, but that IS one of the theories on why human women have large breasts consisting of unnecessary fatty tissue. The heterosexual male brain is programmed to respond to butts, and upright walking animals who engage in copious face-to-face social interaction would tend to go for mates with butts they can see.

I really don't buy that theory. Breasts are utilitarian on their own, and making them more prominent would indicate improved capacity for nursing multiple children. That seems like a much more plausible reason. Also, it's not really butts that men respond to, it's the hip width, which also indicates fitness for producing offspring.

Isn't it also that we have flat faces and not snouts and would have trouble latching onto a nipple on a flat surface?

I find boobs to be arousing, but butts do nothing for me. I know I'm just one sample point, but this personal experience has always made me skeptical of the "boobs are front butts" theory.

A company I worked for had a tank farm in the middle of nowhere. It had 4 tanks that held on the order of 100,000 barrels of petroleum each. The local volunteer fire department came out to ask us what they should do in case one of the tanks caught on fire...
