[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Aw Freakazoid I don't care if your costume was a rip off Madman, you were still awesome! Though honestly after reading the two volumes of Madman I own, it feels like it was all he ripped off.

Freakazoid was actually originally going to be a Plasticman cartoon... so no, he's actually a rip-off of an entirely other character.

Also, does anyone else think it's positively eerie how accurate Freakazoid's take on internet culture was? It makes me surprised that he hasn't been revived... he's basically everything right and wrong about the internet now.

Really? I read it was supposed to be a serious series about a teen who gets internet powers. Fleh, whatevs.

And yeah that is a million dollar idea right there, though I fear if they modernized him they might make him some meme fueled punchline machine ala Lolbat.

So I’m at my university campus with my friends and there’s a protest about Israel going on. Huge crowd of at least 300 people, some with megaphones, guys waving large flags around shouting for peace and what have you.
The three guys I’m with are called Simon, Matt, and Dlejac. Guess which one has relatives in Israel. So he’s walking with us, and I can tell he’s getting really heated up by seeing this giant mob of people who are basically his mortal enemy.
One of the protesters walks by us and bumps into Dlejac. No idea if it was intentional or not, but he really kicks off and I mean REALLY kicks off. He actually leaps like an animal on the guy and starts smashing the back of his head like a monkey trying to open a tin of Heinz Baked Beans. The only reason no one else has intervened is because of his sheer ferocious fury. I’m talking about motherfucking fist of the north star here. He’s hitting this guy for a good thirty seconds and I’m like, can Dlejac keep this up any longer?
Put yourself in my perspective. You’re walking past a huge mob. Your close friend has just started a fight with one of the mob members. You have a split second to act. Ok, so I freezed due to shock and didn’t do anything. But my other friend Simon grabs

Right?

Freakazoid! was one of the best cartoons to ever grace my television. It just oozed whimsy.

@PatrThom: This is a message for me. Let's see if I get it.
Hmm…it worked. MOAR research!

The 100

I read the premise and thought it was interesting enough to give it a show. I didn't know until after I downloaded and started watching it that was a CW show. And lo and behold, it's typical teeny bopper pandering crap with impossibly young, pretty people badly acting alongside forced pop music. Which is a shame because the premise is actually not entirely terrible.

Though I think it's funny that one critic said it's basically The CW's dream: 100 pretty young people along on Earth with the adults dying in space.

So, I caught up on Hannibal tonight with my girlfriend, who, after the second episode, was kind of a mess. Hell, that second episode had me shouting NOOOOO at the tv.

FUCKING SHOW IS SO GOOD.

This season's second episode beginning had us cringing and turning from the screen. You were probably shouting NOOOO at the same moment I was shouting DAMMIT.

Felt a little bait-and-switched with last night's Grimm. They teased the return of Nick's mother last week and she wasn't in this episode. The hexenbaby plot barely moved forward 2 minutes, and Nick is being a worry wart about being best man at a wesen wedding. The other 20 minutes of the show was an "ok" filler one-off about a wesen carnival which would have been thoroughly limp if not for one twist I didn't see coming. And of course, the teaser for NEXT week says "Nick's Mom this time! Honest!" At least it looks like a plot arc episode and not a done-in-one, and with no teased wesen-of-the-week.

So I started watching "Attack on Titan" after I became aware of its existence from recieving volume 1 of the Manga in my most recent Loot-Crate. When I read that there was an Anime based on the Manga, and that the first season was available on Netflix I was excited. I am enthralled with the show, and hope I have more time in the near future to sit down and watch more episodes.

This week's Archer, while not as good as last week's Archer, was still better than most of the season has been. Kind of a combination flashback/bottle episode. I'm really kinda curious to see what Pam's going to do now that they're pretty much out of coke for her to eat.

The last couple episodes have been a great improvement on the ones previous.
Yeah, I was getting very bored. Also, Pam's eating-cocaine schtick is awful. The noise she makes when she eats it is obnoxious -intentionally, I know, but it's so goddamn played out. We get it. She's addicted to coke, and also gross. Everyone has gotten the joke, stop smacking your lips into the mic.

What's been worst for me has been Cheryl's whole "OUTLAW COUNTRY!" diva schtick. Previous to season 5 she was my favorite character. Halfway through season 5 I started groaning any time I saw she was to be involved in the episode.

Honestly, most of the changes this season haven't bothered me. For me, I think it was an interesting experiment to take the Archer cast out of it's tradition setting and see how the characters react in a very different environment. I feel like it shook things up a little, but the characters are staying true to themselves. Not that I won't be happy when we return to espionage farce next season.

It's kinda like that Season 2 extra (I think it was season 2?) where Archer woke up looking like H. Jon Benjamin. Remove something the characters take for granted, and then watch what happens. It's why I love the show.

Tomorrow is the series finale for How I Met Your Mother.

I just know I'll be bawling my eyes out. I put it up there with Boy Meets World in terms of personal favourites shows of all times.

I've enjoyed it, but it drug on too long. I'm just hoping not to be pissed off by the end of the hour tomorrow.

Yeah, it did at points. But the actors and the writing made me keep coming back.

I think they hit a real snag around the time of Stella. Originally, she was supposed to be the mother. Only the plan was for Reese Witherspoon to have the role, who backed out for whatever reason. So they replaced her with Sarah Chalke, who they knew immediately wouldn't be the mother. I think they've been trying to work it back around ever since.

Which is fine by me because I love Cristin Milotti. :D
