[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

I'm sick too. Which sucks because the weather is finally turning around. It's 15 and sunny out, which would normally be a nice day. There is a constant chill running through me though. I've made it through the last week by taking hot showers when I can to try to chase it away. Hopefully it doesn't last much longer.

Today's my birthday, I'm 29. Of my family, only my grandfather seemed to remember, and called me this morning.

Thanks, Pawpaw.

I feel like i never have time for art anymore. My kids are 6 and 10 and their lives require so much of mine that I just don't have any left. Fade has all but stalled. I have like three unfinished books. I think they're all good stories but they are all losing to life.

Been sick since Friday. Spent Saturday and Sunday moving my aunt from Chula Vista to a local senior apartment complex here in Murrieta. She basically can't do any kind of lifting/labor/etc, so it was all on my dad, brother and I. Furniture was crazy dusty, cat hair all over everything, and putting about 8-10 hours of work into each day. Was about to go to bed on Sunday only to find my dog decided to piss on my blanket, so I was up till 2 or so waiting for that to wash.

Woke up this morning feeling sicker than I have in years. Skipping class today. Hating life a little.

Hope you recover fast.

I hate when people have just enough computer knowledge to think they know what they're doing. Trying to get them to do simple troubleshooting things is horribly frustrating. Either do what I asked so that I can help figure out what is wrong or don't call me at all.

Did you try turning it off and back on again?

That's actually what I was trying to get them to do. They suddenly couldn't print a pdf, but can print from every other program. They didn't want to restart their computer though. I'm not going to spend an hour screwing around on their computer until they've at least done a full restart. It's a laptop that has probably just been hibernated for the last 6 months.

Oh, and don't go twelve steps ahead, either. Do what I told you to do, stop, and wait for further instructions.

The flip side is that it's incredibly frustrating when you do know what's wrong, but you have to go through the whole script anyway.

I hear that. I get both sides having to call in to support for various stuff we have. It's pretty easy to tell the difference though. It's usually when someone starts explaining why they don't think they need to do something and it has nothing to do with what you're trying to get at.

STILL DON'T HAVE MY LAPTOP 2 WEEKS LATER.

Repairman syas its hard to find the exact card he needs. Orders it. We wait, and wait. Finally arrives two weeks later. Installs the card. Calls me up and says computer keeps crashing during testing. He's gonna figure it out he says, no problem. Maybe there's an issue with the chip. The chip? What chip. He says 芯片。 That literally means chip. I don't know what he's talking about. He says it *should* be fixed by today. It damn well better be.

He doesnt even know what the problem is. I'm giving him another week while I go back to the US to see my sister get married.

Sometimes it's the little things that drive me crazy. My 3rd grade students' language skills are horrible, but I've gotten used barely being able to read their sentences. However, today, I found a worksheet that a boy had stapled in the middle of the paper. I almost fucking cried. Was I this dumb/inconsiderate at 8? I remember forgetting to use punctuation, but I don't remember doing something like that.

<= Just got a recall notice from GM for this thing. Key could accidentally switch off while driving, cutting power to car.

St. Patrick's Day celebrations start tomorrow here. Not sure how many dumbasses we're predicted for this year.

On the upside, I have Saturdays and Sundays off, so I will be earning 32 hours of sweet, sweet overtime, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I let the stupid conservative stuff wash over me. I mean i appreciate a good debate with an intelligent conservative, but when it's page after page of image macros that are either obviously false or easily researched it gets silly. And most of it is attacking the left (or more often people of the left) rather than promoting the right.
