This may not mean much to any of you, but it's neat to me. I was on the base this morning to get my son signed up for football and saw an unfamiliar ship at the docks. Then I noticed there was a Canadian flag off of the prow. It was the HMCS Protecteur! This isn't my picture (I was in the wrong lane to be able to take a decent picture), but it is the ship in Pearl Harbor as it is leaving port.

So, Canadian perspective. What do you think of the character they've had on Bones who is a forensic podiatrist? I'm not even Canadian and I found him to be an insulting caricature.

That series is an insulting caricature in general. I actually like the books.

I don't know what it is about Bones. I know it's not the best show out there, but there's something about it that I just love.

I'll never understand why Americans think we all have the mid-westerner dontchaknow accent. There are a lot of distinctly Canadian anglo accents and that's not one of them.

I thought that was a common way of speaking around Southern Ontario.

I'm not super familiar with southern Ontario, but my dad's family are all from Picton and Kingston and no one sounds like that. I could be wrong.

Ha, Toronto councilman (and not mayor surprisingly) wants to allow bars to be open as early as 6 am for Olympic hockey. Canadian as fuck.

Pretty sure I have the same accent as someone from southern Ontario (grew up in Buffalo) and it is not at all Midwestern.

While exaggerated and confused, it was fairly East Coast-ish, similar to someone combining a Texan and a Boston accent and calling it American.

Yeah a friend in college was from rural New York, just outside of Buffalo and his accent was pretty much identical to us in the GTA. The tell was actually colloquialisms. Oh sure, he called it "pop", like we all do, but he also said things like "ninth grade" and "candy bar".[DOUBLEPOST=1392344090][/DOUBLEPOST]

The mayor wants that too, I'm sure. But who would know? He's been too busy partying at nightclubs and campaigning on radio shows to actually go to city hall.

I hate that he's probably going to get re-elected
