Krisken's art stuff, previously all 40k miniatures

I haven't done much involving Warhammer lately, but today my buddy who is also WAYTOOINTOIT invited me over for some Warhammer modelling time, and after the mess my life has been the last few weeks, it felt really good. I did up a heavily customed Khan for my White Scars, seen here next to his brand new Great Unclean One, which I put next to him just because I fucking love the Great Unclean One. He's a solid kilo of resin and looks unbelievably cool.

It is. My friend has gone insane. He has about 12000 points of Space Wolves including a Fellblade, 3000-4000 points of Eldar Corsairs, 5000 points of IG and he's now starting a Nurgle Chaos army, which he already has a Plague Hulk and the Great Unclean One.

I'm going to add he's only been into Warhammer for a little over a year.

Yeah, the Scabiethorax model is fantastic (I probably spelled that way wrong).

I've been a slacking on keeping up with my own hobbying, but hopefully I'll have some time soon to do an update.

So GW has me so irritated with these new dataslates, escalation, and formation downloads I think I'm about done with the game. I've been noticing the game isn't as fun as it used to be and the rules are a total cock-up. When others were happy with the changes to Daemons, I was annoyed. They took a simple to play army which defied the rules by being simpler to play and understand and introduced so many random elements (because chaos is random and random is fun durr durr) I have to spend 10 minutes just on book keeping to keep track of my army.

So annoyed I'm tempted to shut down Scratchbuilt 40k. I just don't see the point anymore.

I hate that formations are coming to psuedo-normal games. Leave that shit in Apocalypse.
I hate that Revenant Titans are coming to regular games. First time someone says they're bringing that shit I'm tossing down Aetaos'rau'keres, Daemon Lord of Tzeentch.

So....the Fellblade, the only Space Marine super heavy I have, isn't listed there? WHY? It's in the fucking new book!? Why is every Baneblade variant and most smaller titans listed but not that? 700 dollar Thunderhawk is cool, but the 200 dollar Fellblade...no way!

FUCK YOU!

IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A D-WEAPON.

Shit, the Daemon lord of Tzeentch is a 999 point model. Let that sink in for a minute. It's 1,000 points. I can take this guy, two Tzeentch troops, and a Herald of Tzeentch for under 1300 points. This game just got... stupid!

Did I forget to mention it's toughness 8 and has 9 wounds? Oh, and a 3+ invulnerable save in which he rerolls 1's for being Tzeentch.

Well, things are not looking good for Games Workshop right now. Their latest financial report was pretty terrible, they lost their lawsuit against Chapterhouse, their stock dropped 25%, the German HQ is closing as they are refocusing on the English speaking markets, and White Dwarf as we know it is no more, to be replaced by a weekly and monthly magazine.

You're telling me raising prices through the roof and thus pricing most people interested in your hobby out of it while your competition only got bigger ended up being bad for business?

Best case scenario for this? Games Workshop goes out of business, then ether WotC, CCP, or another company buys up the rights. They'll start cranking out stuff at a reasonable pace/price and probably get the game rights into the hands of someone who will actually DO something with them. Maybe then we'll finally see the franchise get the smash hit it needs to become successful.

I'm still shocked that they were happy selling fewer models at higher prices. Losing customers is TERRIBLE business sense.

Assuming the trend continues, yeah, they're in a rough position. However, in my amateur opinion (did some studying of markets in accounting) it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be, especially when you consider the other information in the report.

I'll just copy this over from what I said over at the 11th Company forums.

All the doom and gloom about GW's financials looks to be a bit overblown. They have a incredibly strong debt ratio (average is around 57% to 65% for most companies, so this is insanely low) and their inventory turnover is still healthy at 15.25 (in 365 days their entire inventory is completely replaced 15.25 times). They're rate of returns are still healthy when compared to other game companies.

Nothing too surprising, really. They're in a slump regarding their stock prices and are still earning profit, they just don't have the 5% growth most companies their size want to see period. The slump in sales for the time had an adverse effect on the confidence of the market but I wouldn't be surprised to see stock prices rise in time.

Making progress on my jetbikes. I'm further along than I posted on SB40k, but I want to keep some content on the side so I can keep updating twice a week. I forgot how much I enjoyed posting on the blog!

Anyways, here is a progress image I posted up there.

Thanks Zappit! Right now (as far as I am done with it) though it's looking a little silly, and I'm concerned I'll have a hard time making it look better. As it stands now, it kinda looks like a shoe. Hopefully when done it will look sleeker.

Thought I'd post an in-progress review of the Centurions kit.

The Centurions kit gives you three Cents and the components to build every possible combination of their load outs. For the price, it better damn should. The models are static when built; they are not posable. However, they are nicely detailed and do look impressive when completed. I have noticed that, as with some of the kits that are static when complete, the parts don't always line up quite right. I had that happen with the first of my Cents, as one arm did not line up with a linking component. I used another bit to cover up that gap. I have yet to build the other two, but I'm liking the models a lot despite the slight flaw. I might even buy another kit to construct a full unit of six lascannon/missile Devastator Centurions. It seems like you can't have enough high power/low ap weaponry now, anyway.[DOUBLEPOST=1390189306,1390189138][/DOUBLEPOST]

Once it's painted, it will look fantastic. You could always add some exposed components underneath.

That's sort of where I'm headed with it. I'm sure once I start adding depth to the bottom portion of the bike (engine exhaust, guns, etc) it will look less like a shoe and more like the bike I was aiming for.

Holy shit, you ever wanted your own Forgeworldesque Greater Daemon? Ultraforge is going to start a Kickstarter on Feb 1st for their new Creature Caster line and 4 of the 8 models are absolutely gorgeous stand ins.

I'll spoiler the last one because it has boobs.

These are CG renders of the final model molds. Here's a scale picture.

Depending on the price these could be a fantastic way to add a greater daemon to your collection.
